It’s objectively worse. To claim focus AOE is better touches on insanity. You can’t sit there with a straight face and claim being able to blow and go on tunnels of critters or packs of mammoths or w/e is WORSE than having to stop and wait for focus to regen before you AOE again, or single target and build up focus with SS before you AOE again - sometimes having to manually retarget.
How is it BETTER? How is it better than not stopping to drink, not stopping to single target, not stopping to manually target … just volley down your mobs?
Except it’s really not - if anything, Retail is built on the bones of Legion.
The main method of character growth is item upgrading (introduced in MoP but completely revamped for DF), fueled by raiding, M+, PvP, and World Quests. Raiding is extremely similar to the Legion style, and M+ and World Quests were both created in Legion. A great deal of iconic abilities in the talent trees are holdovers from Legion and Shadowlands, and the questing tends to follow Legion design. Reputations are handled like Shadowlands Covenants.
The new stuff is DF talent trees and World Events. The similarities to Cataclysm are almost nonexistent, but Legion and Shadowlands can be felt all over in Retail.
Multishot is not target capped, and assuming you’re playing Survival (which why would you be playing anything else in Cataclysm?) spreads your serpent sting to everything hit by it. Drop your Explosive Trap for Lock and Load procs, which allows you to tag multiple targets with Explosive Shot at no Focus cost while it recharges, thus providing no downtime coupled with Haste increasing your Focus regen, and you’ll find Focus is far less limiting than mana if you’d stop complaining and actually give it the time of day
Why is it that you all state this as gospel truth? I never had MORE social interactions in OG Wrath - Cata than after the RDF came out.
Before it came out, I went diungeoning now and then with my Guild, or if I wanted to do a dungeon and only one or two other Guildies wanted as well, we stood in SW forever spamming to find a group. (I did not do this very often, as it was a glorious waste of time in my opinion, and I could not ask my Guildies to always be the one making the group Then we spent an inordinate time travelling to the dungeons, talking I give you all the time, but not much WoW related, more private, wtah we could just as well have done over a cup of tea. After RDF I and one or two Guildies signe up, she a healer,or DPS, me tank, and in a very short time, we had a group, TPed to it, talked toi the other group members while doing the dungeon in a cozy fashion, we were in no hury and those being in a hurry oten left, leaving us stranded in the dungeon … but RDF to the rescue and fill upp our group, sometimes it took a little time, but always shorter than thíme spent spamming + travelling. ANd when We’d completed the dungeon (sometimes we did one more) we said goodbye, parted ways, and were back to Questing once again.
The only downside to RDF I can see, is that new players did not know their way to the Dungeon entrance when they died I do not know how many times I fetched players from GY near Auchindoun or in Zangar
