Ybarra, want to earn back my trust?

So that’s why on the last two days you only replied to me?

You sure like to lie. You’re removing yourself because you are nothing more than lying trash.

I think OP understands very clearly what is going on with this company, and it doesn’t matter if he empathizes with employees or not. The bottom line is that if the company does not produce a company that people will buy, the employees will be out on the street looking for another job.

Where he went wrong was when he said that if all of this really bothered employees, they would have left long ago. The fact is, most employees ignore workplace issues that do not affect them personally because they don’t want to go look for another job. Most employees will also put up with poor workplace conditions for the same reason.

I once had to come in and clean up a workplace where the manager was not paying her employees the overtime they earned. Not one employee ever complained about it, even though the amount owed was staggering. When I asked the employees why they never said anything about this issue, their responses were simply that they were afraid they’d be fired.

If you want to work in a respectful workplace, you have to 1)know the employment laws within your state. 2) not be afraid to stand up for having that respectful workplace you want. 3) understand the risk you take when you stand up. You could lose your job (but really that would probably benefit you in the long term)

I don’t disagree. I guess the difference is, some people aren’t so confident in their own self-worth as to exit and seek employment elsewhere. That was part of my point. They landed at Blizzard. Perhaps they weren’t as confident they could get such a high-profile role again and were willing to “stick it out” because of uncertainty, as you suggest. I would not have made that choice, but it is certainly theirs to make.

I very much agree with the OP. What is the ABK hoping to accomplish at this point? The bad actors were fired, and culture cant change overnight, it takes time. They want Kotick gone, ok great, looks like hes gonna be gone after the merge, so time to be quiet and go back to work.

Stop grand standing and get back to work and help fix the problem from the inside.

Im sorry it was terrible to work at Blizzard for a handful of employees, and hopefully that has been rectified or is being rectified, but Blizzard has 10,000!!! employees - I guarantee you 9900 of them just want to get back to work and make good games again and stop all this publicized drama.

I think this is a big one. Not a whole lot of people know the laws, and bad employers take advantage of that. Hiring kids in high school/out of college, paying abominable wages that don’t allow for decent living, outright telling people they will be fired for discussing their wages amongst co-workers (which is illegal to tell them they cannot do that)…

But, hey, things are happening. It will be interesting to see where it all lands.

Maybe he’s leaving because he has better things to do.

Bad employees being fired doesn’t mean others won’t take their place. These conversations should continue to happen because that is how change takes place. Bobby Kotick is still CEO of Actiblizz and will continue to be so for awhile. He can still cause a lot of damage in that time.

Ubisoft also initially said that their workplace culture changed and were remaining committed to making a difference, and yet multiple employees spoke out near the end of last year about how nothing had fundamentally changed.

Telling others to be quiet and go back to work is harmful. Don’t be ignorant.

If you want to defend a stalker that’s your prerogative

I guess talking about bad behaviour is just talk since you’re defending it.

Well, you have to consider the consequences when you leave a well established job which causes a lot of people to hesitate. A lot of people live paycheck to paycheck, have debt up to their eyeballs and health/dental/vision is usually tied to your employer.

Oh, I agree with you 100% on this. I was just pointing out that in my experience, people will put up with a lot of stuff and not complain about it. One thing this handful of employees do need to watch out for is the fact that when the company changes hands, it is an opportunity for the company to clean house and get rid of employees they don’t feel are adding value to the business. I’ve seen this happen multiple times when I’ve been involved in company sales.

Yeah…you clearly don’t undrstand what that phrase actually meant when it was coined.

Pro-tip: It didn’t literally mean the customer is always right.

Thanks for explaining humorlessness to me, daddy, you’re so smart. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Yup. The danger is real, considering (up to this point) that Microsoft has no part in the allegations, so if they terminated anyone, there would be zero grounds for wrongful termination suits. It could be argued that if anyone were fired today, they may or may not be able to make a case. They, frankly, lose that protection once the company changes hands.

Best protection now? Be the best damn employee you can, continue to demonstrate your value, such that Microsoft believes you will make them money. Let’s be honest - that is all they will care about.

No offense, but you do realize that you’ve also been mocking others and expressing just as bad behavior, if not worse?
