Can’t really disagree with the OP. Since an mmo IS the community, the destruction of that community kills the game.

Explain why players are asking for an easy mode format to avoid pros. A PVP game can be simple but there’s still winners and losers.
Not changed in Classic. Those were in Vanilla 1.12. Read the whole thread.
The most destructive thing was open forums, allowing people to complain about nonsense. 
Still, although Xrealm BG’s solved some problems, it perpetuated others. It made people care even less about faction balance, and it didn’t do the community any favors either. We’re probably better off with xtealm bgs but it’d be interesting to see how a classic server would work out without it.
