XMOG for Classic Wrath+

Transmogs are such an irrelevant aspect of the game. Add them, don’t add them, who cares?

Barbershop was originally added in WotLK.

Transmog is a terrible feature that is just going to blast the world with people in tuxedos, farmer outfits, and smogs. It makes the retail world look and feel almost as ridiculous as all the zany weird mount options do. I would honestly be embarrassed playing an MMO with that stuff.

I care about knowing what gear people have in pvp so I can make quick judgements about who a kill target could be. I care about knowing what gear people wear out in Dalaran because if I see an unusual piece I can ask them about it and perhaps learn something new.

Keep that transmog crap in retail please.

would you be willing to let the game die because of it? im not saying it would by itself, but if you take away non game breaking things that people like that make it immersive and cosmetically appealing, you will undoubtedly lose partial playerbase to that kind of thinking.

im actually really staring to like that one players suggestion about being able to hit a button to turn off xmog for other players… so you can see either or if you want. that solves it for both sides of the debate and should keep everyone happy

no transmog, if you want to look good raid, otherwise look like someone vomited skittles onto your armor.

  • I dont raid. That is a boring aspect of the game for me. I prefer to pvp
  • I can’t stand a lot of how raid gear even looks
  • some pvp gear doesnt even look good…
  • My caster toons I can’t stand being forced to wear a robe / skirt. they look like trash to me
  • tabards do not work well with robes
  • I want to look as good in classic as I can in retail
  • even I did like some of the raid gear, if I could xmog it by earning it… i might, but still use pvp gear bc that is better for pvp

there are so many reasons why xmog should be allowed in some fashion, there has to be a middle ground

I tell my partner to hide their PvE helmet in Arenas for a reason.

Transmog has 3 issues with it that cannot be ignored.

  1. It affects PvP by removing a strategic aspect to it, scanning people’s gear and being careful on which pieces of PvE gear you equip.
  2. It impacts the social aspect of the game by pretty much removing the high end gear visuals from cities and the prestige that comes with it.
  3. It hurts the fantasy aspect of the game by allowing people to dress like half naked clowns. There’s nothing more immersion breaking than a half naked Tauren fighting an old god with a fish.

I’m absolutely against transmog for all the reasons listed above. I would still be against it even if there was an option to turn off transmog visuals because transmog is part of the package that ruined original WoW back then by destroying its social significance along with LFR.

Transmog is the start of a ruined game.

Look at retail. The gear you get from raiding is bland and boring.

Want cool looking gear? Pay money. No thanks.

Fair, transmog should deactivate in battlegrounds and arena.

Prestige, prestige. People keep throwing out that word. What social prestige is there in looking exactly like the other hunter in your raid, or the hundreds of raiding hunters standing around town? Boring.
The only things honestly that prestigious and rare are legendaries, and original transmog did not work on them.

I’d say the opposite. Maybe that Tauren’s backstory is that he was a renowned fisherman until the scourge wiped out his entire village and he was the only survivor, so he prayed to his fish gods for the power to take revenge. He is granted so much power he has no need for bulky armor.
You don’t like it?
Well that’s not up to you. It’s his character and his story. How can you deny him what he wants to play as, just because you think it’s a joke?

Realistically, lack of transmog impedes RP. You can only wear your cosplay sets in towns or basically when combat is not involved. You can’t be in character all of the time, if you have to put gear back on to fight.

Transmog would fix that.

Xmog was a mistake.

As someone who loves to transmog pretty much every character I have, I’m not really in favor of adding it earlier. I say wait until it originally came to the game. However, there could be compromises to make it work I suppose.

This is a good one^. People who want to see the “real” gear people are wearing can toggle this option.

your talking a lot about ruining a social aspect of the game when permitting xmog also ruins a social aspect of the game.

LFR is a completely differ issue… shouldnt be pooled into the same category as xmog. LFR made interactions with ppl meaningless and completely random without any effort to build friendships, communicate with people and lessened the need to have a guild to do raiding with… etc - not even in the same ball park

Xmog is cringe and a dumb feature - it can stay in retail.

The gear is only less valuable than original TBC because of the nature of Classic being old content that has been cleared a million time over the past 15+ years, this doesn’t change the fact that there is prestige in having several pieces from Sunwell, even if this prestige will only last for a month or two until everyone and their dog has the gear.

Pretending like someone walking around with Apolyon on their back or a pair of shoulders from the Twins doesn’t catch your eye is either a lie or you belong on retail because you’re not looking for a social game, plain and simple.

Even if someone wants to actually do exactly what you said, Roleplaying about being an half naked fisherman that fight with a fish, the vast majority of people don’t do that with transmog. They transmog into clown outfits because they find it funny, not because they want to roleplay as one.
Nothing is stopping someone from getting half naked and hitting monster with a fishing stick without transmog, it’s not ideal for combat, but such are the limitations of not wearing armor or using a proper weapon when fighting dragons.

You are not entitled to ruining other player’s fun because you want to be special.

Nothing stops you from getting naked in the city if you want to look like a buffoon or to equip your RP set and RP walk around Stormwind or Orgrimmar.

Transmog doesn’t bring any social aspect to the game, far less people will care about your transmog than your gear without transmog.
Transmog is practically only valuable to yourself, not to those around you who couldn’t care less about your Sulfuras hammer or your Stormwind guard outfit. Because a very small minority of people would actually care about what others transmog looks like while the rest of us will only cringe at most and be annoyed at worst.

Social means that there is interaction between players, transmog is a single player dress up game that hurts social interactions for all the points I’ve mentioned in my original post.

I think it’s fine if it’s a client option to turn it on and off. Then you only see xmogs if you want to, or not. If you have it off, they are not visible on any player.

Then its an individual choice to opt in to seeing/using them.

It isn’t about keeping the anti-mog side happy. It is about the anti-mog side controlling what the mog side can do. They don’t care if they can’t see your tmog. They just don’t want you to be able to do it plain and simple.

Wait, what…? Said Tauren Fisherman… ruined your fun… because you don’t get to control his character…? Did I read that right?

That is like saying… your clothes in real life have no social impact. They do… people pay attention to what people around them are wearing. Likewise people pay attention to the transmog around them whether they find it epic or stupid… it has an impact on the social aspect of the game.

Nothing!

xmog, new models, and RBGs should be amazing for WOTLK.
