I mean, on one hand, it may just be a framing device.
but on the other hand all the new earthen clothes have bare tootsies for some reason even when the rest of the boot looks like the toes SHOULD be covered

It reminds me of Xerxes in 300.
I definitely interpreted it as more of a framing device or allusion to her looking down on anyone she is speaking to (arrogance being her downfall, yadda yadda). I think they’re also trying to really hit home that she floats most of the time instead of walking to remind us that she’s some sort of otherworldly being.
Although, I cannot deny the humor in a Void entity choosing elaborate toe rings for their weird corpse puppet visage.
If it is a ‘foot thing’, only the people thinking about that are the ones that are gonna interpret it that way.

Xalatath is just enjoying the recursion of decorating her puppet body just like how we enjoy transmoggin’ our characters. You have to remember she’s a being that probably didn’t understand the concept of having limbs the same way we do.
When you realize she’s just having fun with her avatar, things make more sense. Bill Cypher played this out in a way that even children could understand.

The best part is that the body isn’t even really hers, but that of a random blood elf Xal killed, so people don’t even realize that they’re focusing on the feet of an undead, in a way xD.
Now that you mention it, I did find it a little out of place that Faerin said “motherf***er” so many times for like no reason.
