You could play Fallout for survival tips.

As a longtime Fallout fan, do not use Fallout as an example of how to survive a post-apocalypse.

I’d go completely tech free and just make sure I had a set of lawn darts. Become proficient with “deadly weapons” while playing an unassuming “picnic game”. Efficiency is the best policy.

It took awhile, but TWW3 has grown on me. To say the launch was rough is an understatement, but imho CA has done a good job updating/re-configuring stuff and it feels much better to play now.

I much prefer WotR over Kingmaker, which is funny because I normally prefer stuff that’s more “down-to-earth” whereas WotR is very much Epic High Fantasy. I’d definitely recommend giving it another shot, but I can totally get why someone might bounce off it.

I enjoy the turn-based mode, personally. I agree it’s not as good as BG3’s, but I like that I can toggle it off whenever I need to deal with some chaff.

Same. I’m going full people eater.

I could play Minecraft until the end of time.

Five games that don’t require online access to play? We’re going ooooooold school for the most part then.

Dungeon Keeper II

Black and White I

Drakkan : Order of the Flame

Conan Exiles

Stellaris

Don’t @ me.

This is a game that needs a remaster.

Or at least a steam/gog release! Last time I checked it was one of the biggest profile games which is totally unavailable to buy other than buying old discs on ebay

My celestial white ape, playing with children, tending to crops, healing the sick, helping the villagers build new houses for their familes and cleaning up his own poop.

:innocent:

Me, setting fire to rocks and hurling them through orphanages, hurling flaming poop into the middle of crop fields, and depositing tainted grain in the middle of the enemy camps because they kicked out my merchants and pilgrims.

Ok I lied, I got Dragon Age today and played for a few hours. It was fun playing Skyrim again but when I realize I can recite every random npc line by heart I guess it sort of feels like I’m in a rut, so I felt like trying something new. Sorry to other unplayed games

So I can offer some Dragon Age colon the Veilguard First Impressions!

The first thing I notice is the absolute lushness of my character’s hair. Yeah this game has like strand-based hair physics. I choose to play as a dwarf and idk what kind of awesome subterranean l’oreal he’s using but he looks great.

The plot: I don’t really know who Solas is! The game starts with your character trying to stop him from doing Something Bad, an event which I guess was probably foreshadowed in Inquisition. My Dragon Age pedigree is not that great as someone who has played Origins and not much else from the rest of the series (I tried inquisition briefly, but did not get far). So Varric and Solas as returning allies/antagonists are basically lost on me. Will fan favorite characters that I remember, such as Sandal the enchantment dwarf, return?! I do not know.

The combat is quite fun, basically just the sort of “fantasy mass effect” gameplay I would’ve hoped for. Some of the class design is a bit silly as a dwarf warrior whose species, the game tells me, cannot use magic, one of the first abilities I learn is how to conjure flaming swords to rain down on enemies. This is apparently not magic and there is a totally mundane explanation for how this is happening? One of the other warrior specs is basically a death knight so idk what counts as magic here. But it is fun to fight in this game at any rate.

Many people have commented that the game represents a pretty big tonal shift from “dark fantasy” to “comic book fantasy” or whatever and that seems true. Origins, as I recall, introduced the world to me with a lengthy prologue about social inequity in dwarven society. Veilguard starts with me beating up glowy demon monsters while Varric wise-cracks. Not really striking the same moody tone the first game but I don’t feel too strongly about it yet, maybe it will win me over or put me off as I get further in.

I would appreciate a bit more exposition because idk where my character was supposed to come from. I’m a dwarf from the Tevinter Imperium, but I still don’t really know what a dwarf is doing there. You get an option to choose your background in character creation but none of them were dwarfy in nature: two types of Tevinter resistance groups of sorts, grey warden or elf research group.

The visual look is also very different from the first game, where character designs were pretty subdued (other than Morrigan nobody really had a special outfit of their own, everyone just sort of looked like regular dudes). And overall things are very magical and even science-fictiony, as characters like Bellara look more like dwemer engineers than the low-tech elves I’m used to seeing in Dragon Age.

Anyway I’m not that far in so that’s all I have. TLDR: nice dwarf hair physics, science-fictiony, what does it mean to be dwarf

I remember absolutely nothing about Dragon Age: Origins plot or characters, but I distinctly remember that room right before the final boss where that Enchantment Dwarf is just happily waiting for you…in a room absolutely piled with bodies and blood.

Heck yeah, welcome.

I’m hosting a party tomorrow :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I’m very excited, it’s my first time living in a space I can actually host people in.

Unrelated but I have a medical grade human skeleton because who doesn’t?? And I’m going to put Xmas lights and a santa hat on him and make him a Christmas skeleton. My coworker said I could hang ornaments off his rib cage. So I’ll be decorating my Christmas skeleton tonight.

Arcane season 2 is out. Anyone watching? First three episodes are on Netflix now, next 3 are out tomorrow.

This fills me with seasonal joy and giddiness for some reason.
