WTH Did They Do To Anduin!?

So I get that he is traumatized by his experiences in the Shadowlands, as is everyone who had the distinct misfortune of playing that expansion (lolkek), but I really think they overdid it. He went from being the golden boy “prince that was promised” fantasy trope to looking like a college dropout recovering from an opioid addiction and burdened with monthly student debt payments higher than his mortgage… And what was the inspo for that haircut? That one viral Britney Spears video right after she shaved her head? To quote The Godfather “look how they massacred my boy.”

I know that he can’t stay a twink forever but these were supposed to be his twunk years not…this! :joy:

Manduin never existed, we need a real king for the alliance.

I would have PTSD from Shadowlands too.

For someone who probably hasn’t seen a bath in roughly 5 years and only has his father’s sword to handle his hair situation with, he honestly looks pretty good, all things considered.

He was forced to watch himself attacking and killing people.

He’s fought before of his own free will but he was free to make bad choices.

Domination magic basically has him feeling like he can’t recharge his connection to the light.

That’ll mess you up. As for the short hair. Probably just did his own shaving while he was traveling alone. He doesn’t feel like that old Anduin anymore.

Anduin looks better now than the boy-wonder look he had on the BFA cinematic.

My guess is that the Visions he’s been having haven’t let him sleep much. Also, when he wandered off a the end of SL, he forgot to take a razor with him.

So I get all of that but first of all he didn’t do any of that, he was literally dominated (all this time and this still sounds so bad, lmao). He should be able to make that distinction. Second, what was it he did that was really that bad? He stabbed an immortal lady to steal her glow-in-the-dark tattoo not really hurting her in the process, rampaged around that one zone no one played in coz we had all quit SL by then, and then got his sense knocked back into him by the players. We’ve had characters do much worse and be fully redeemed in the span of a single patch.

I mean, he was forced to help forward the plan to unmake all reality and turn everything into Superhell (or whatever-- I only paid marginal attention to the end of Shadowlands).

Probably feels complict, even if he was dominated. Still his body that was being used.

Therapists on Azeroth do not get paid enough.

Still traumatic to have all control taken from you like that. Having to watch people suffer and you can’t stop it.

Probably begging in his head for the light to help him. And having nothing happen.

Went from femboy to a real man

yeah I don’t know why he is such a big baby, I mean I got dominated and mind controlled by a shadow priest 10 years ago, NO it didn’t affect me I just like jumping off high cliffs when I see the other faction! I am perfectly fine…but my knees tho…

Anduin’s seen some… real crap. Leaving aside having been Dominated by the Jailer, he’s seen friends and family alike taken from him. That alone would leave him with PTSD.

I’m one of the folks that actually like Anduin so seeing him like this is just “you poor thing” but said genuinely.

He is now BLANDuin. The key art for him is horrible. Generic Human Male aesthetic for real. I am so beyond disappointed in this. His PTSD is fine, his story arc is fine. But god they really went with the most boring design they could possibly think of. It would have been much cooler if he had grown out his hair to more resemble Varian.

Bad analogy is bad. He doesn’t look like whatever that word salad was supposed to be.

He lost his father, he went through a war, then was forced to do the bidding of Hell itself and has now spent three years trying to get through that trauma on his own.

He’s worn out, ragged and yes, traumatized. Let’s see how you turn out if you were forced to into trying to destroy people you admired after your father is ripped apart and you had to watch people desperately escape a burning continent where huge amounts died and you couldn’t stop it, then had to fight a war on more than one front, while people yelled at you that you were doing it wrong.

I think they actually did the disgruntled hero trope right. They upped his look to be more serious without destroying his character. He promised to stand by Thrall’s side in the end with more weight to his words. That cinematic actually made me excited for the storytelling of WoW again.

so…
maybe the maw did allot more damage?
