Please find me a paladin playing Templar, and then put them next to me same gear same skill level and they will underperform, not because I’m better or I’m good at the game but because blizzard ruined Templar. It’s not really a question it’s a pretty well know thing and I don’t know how you’re even trying to debate that. I understand debating everything else but they absolutely do not perform similarly, I tried out a Templar ST build and was like 200k DPS under my herald build. That’s not good.

You’re falling to identify why templar is having performance issue and it’s a poor showing of your general understanding.
In fact Templar theoretically does BETTER in ST than Herald.

Again, since you didn’t bother to read it, Templar need QoL change to the range of EH so that it can hit beyond 8yd and it would be fine.
That’s what holding it back.

I retract this, it seems it was fixed.
Wowhead spell says it has 5000 range and after testing it in game stacks were going up from 20 yd up.

100% buffed but that doesnt make enhance players happy. It wasnt buffed in the way some wanted so to them it’s a pointless buff. Gonna be honest, never seen a more un-unified group of players then I have with Enhance Shamans.

Woa passively drops hammer of light and within 29s they need to buff the passive stacks to stack faster so hammer of light can be use another time before woanis off cd.

Herald damage profile needs absolutely nothing to work. It plays by itself literally. Herald has a stronger hammer of wrath than the hammer spec thats meant to spam it
Templar depends on shake the heavens but because ret gets giga kited it gets zero value.
If you want templar to be viable in pvp it needs a lot more than damage buffs

If that one and only hammer of. Light is impactful it would be fine.
As it stands now,. Its damage profile is similar to execution sentence., most time less.
Shake the heavens needs to stay up passive like heralds lasers.

I don’t think herald has anything to worry about. It’s Templar that’s a dead spec. Hell even in heroic raiding Templar is dead.
They really need to buff the damages of the hammers falling and increase the radius side of where it hits.
Gameplay for it is fine, I find Templar vastly more fun than herald.

I did some keys as templar and Idk if they shadow fixed the EH but I was getting pretty good results, I couldn’t tell from the overall at the end whether I played Herald or Templar.
It’s hard to get a good grasp on the comparative because I won’t necessarily be doing the same key level with the same people back to back.
But generally can I get 1.1-1.2 overall as either at 610.
I’m not fully enchanted yet either or optimized for that matter, waiting for at least hero pieces.
Sims (hoping they aren’t broken anymore) shows they are pretty close in either 1 target or 5 target with same base M+ build.
Templar being slightly superior in ST and Herald slightly superior in 5 targets.
Obviously, herald still has a more flexible mechanic uptime wise.
But I can’t say I was really behind or ahead on Templar.
I don’t think it’s necessarily as dead as we think, I think the stigma kind of crystalized though.
Doesn’t help that Herald feel much more fluid either.
Can’t speak for raid.
The issue is that the more apt players might still be playing Herald, which then leaves Templar data with players which might not “care” as much about their performance which then cascades into poorer showing for the Hero spec.

I should play more herald. Just having so much fun with Templar with the pure light falling down and keeping shake the heavens buff up. I find the gameplay way more fun than just putting up two dots up or going super paladin mode and putting more up.
