Without fail, if I step away for even a moment to do what nature demands, the queue pops.
34 minutes in queue, just to have in pop the second I walk away.

I just missed a 31 minute queue on my alt warrior because I had to let my dog out

Hmm. I’m not sure if there is such a thing as “pausing” in the sense that it holds your spot or something, because it really feels like it just removes you from the queue when it’s “paused”.
well the timer is arbitrary anyways, since it is going to match you with the right mix of mmr regardless of estimated time. but if you want to pause the timer, you can enter an old LFR or proving ground
I’ve definitely waited for a long time in the 30+ minute queue days, paused the queue by going into a LFR solo, came out and had the queue pop within 2-3 minutes.
however, i would wager that if there is two 1900 mmr arms warriors in queue, and the game needs a 1900 mmr arms warrior, it would pop for the one whose timer has the higher number, regardless of pause
I feel like if you join a bg the game isnt holding 5 other ppl hostage til you cap your last cart
but if you do so happen to get out right when a healer at your MMR presses Q, the game might see how long your unpaused Queued duration was for prio
