Wrongfully banned

People are getting wrongfully banned. In my case likely because I play for extended duration 40+ hours (farming gold for my TF mats for example). Each Account I have made after the first ban has also been banned. This makes five. Three of these bans took place in less than two weeks. All bans were for “cheating/hacking”. Needless to say that is not true. One of the accounts I refer too is nearly 20 years old and just besides that I have no desire to hack or bot or w.e. I know the burden of proof is on me but thats really all I can say. I do play on linux which from my research (and YEARS of playing on it previously) isn’t the problem. Also I reinstalled my OS in one case and in another played from windows. So thats not the cause I guess. VPN was my thought for a while but I had stopped using it for a while after the first account got banned and it had never been an issue in the past. I know I will be told that I am lying or I DID do something but I really didn’t and now I can’t even play with my guild who had moved me up to MT. All appeal replies for the most part are AI boiler-plate. And to be quite frank I’m not sure the more sophisticated reply’s aren’t also. I simply say that because you’re NOT gonna find any illicit programs when / if someone ACTUALLY checks the logs or w.e. I will not list my accounts here since I’m pretty sure there is something that can link an account user across acounts and that may also have been related. Idk anymore. I’ve tried and tried and tried and it feels like I’m getting bullied or something. I am a friendly well recieved player on my server so I doubt its some group of people who dislike me but who really knows. Losing that binding for no reason though… lol. Rip

Ok, do you use your computer for work also? Does it have any automation software installed on your system? All you can do is appeal in a ticket not here. It won’t end well if you try lawyering your appeal also. When appealing be concise and clear. They deal in systems that they have and you do not get to present evidence. Appeal until they say no more.

Na it’s my personal PC. And na no automation software. Yeah that’s pretty much what I’ve seen. Just figured I’d put one up here as a shot in the dark. Thanks for the reply.

CS does not use “AI” when responding to tickets or appeals. If that were the case, ticket replies wouldn’t take days, they would be instant.

For appeals specifically, they do have a set of standardised replies to maintain consistency between all replies. There are templated replies for upholding an account action and another one for removing an account action.

All you can really do is keep appealing until they tell you no further appeals will be heard. When it reaches that point, you’ve done all you can do. Appeals cannot and will not heard on the forums as the Blues that moderate this forum are not GMs.

As for what they found, they will not reveal what they found to anyone, as that information would be vital to bot makers. With that said, there are a few things to look out for:

  • AutoHotKey - Used to automate gameplay, even though it has other legitimate uses
  • Keyboard/Mouse Macros - Again, used for automated gameplay (can send more than one action per keypress, which is against the rules)
  • Streamlining Multiboxing - No hardware or software can be used to streamline the multiboxing process. Even Windows’s built-in feature to automatically change window focus on mouse-over is considered streamlining. You can only Alt+Tab between windows.

Do you use multiple screens? Windows has a built in feature that’s on by default for multiple screens making another window active with a mouse click

Yep, yep and yep. Ok yeah, then ‘templated’ replies, although I think you know what I meant. And no to all of that. The most intense macro hotkey related thing i have/use is a Naga. I dont use custom scripts, my addons are used by thousands of other players, etc, etc, etc. There is no real gotcha here. I’ve played the game basically the same way I have for twenty years. This only became an issue this past year. Part of this is just to bring to light my situation because there is no other recourse despite continuous appeals.

I don’t think that one would be the case otherwise I would’ve been hit with a suspension or account closure.

How ever, key binding something to the mouse wheel then using it on WoW if the window is inactive would be considered as streamlining and would breach the policies.

Anyways, as for the OP, only thing you can do is keep on appealing. The hacks team is responsible for this decision, and they do not come to the forums. We can try and speculate, but this is not what the forums are for.

I’ll be honest, it is often difficult to tell sometimes. There have been many players coming here touting they’ve received AI responses, since that’s what Reddit and some content creators want everyone to believe.

I think we can all appreciate that. Unfortunately, nothing will come of it by posting here. From time to time, appeals have been escalated to the appropriate team, but that’s typically not the result of posting here.

That’s wild, I mean that could be it technically… although I’ve never had a second client open at least intentioanlly (might’ve launched twice and booted myself if you know what I mean but i wouldnt be hitting that hotkey and also have a 2nd client open unless it was a disconnected wow window I hadnt closed for the same reason) but I could def say I have probably used that keybind and not had wow as my active window but just like a browser as active due to alt tabbing for any number of reasons. If THAT is what caused this… well Id even know what to say. Just GG and that hilarious if so.

And if my situation being elevated to the hacks team is the most that came from this post I’d be ecstatic. Ive heard of them referred to while researching other peoples bans but I never got anything like that.

And in your tickets, you’ve mentioned 48 to 70 hours STRAIGHT.

I’m sorry, but that is just not humanly possible. You are welcome to play as much as you like, but humans have limits to their endurance. Automation isn’t allowed, nor is account sharing.

This has been reviewed extensively and our hacks team came to that conclusion.
