Wrongful ban

I was banned for buying gold because I swapped retail gold for TBCC gold. I have receipts from purchasing tokens in game on this account but because I gave them to my rogue a different account (under the same real life name) the system flagged and banned it

I submitted a ticket where a GM “reviewed the evidence” but this is literally impossible since I did not buy 3rd party gold I swapped it with another player from discord like every streamer/player does

I also get a lovely error that says “you are silenced in game and cannot post on forums” which makes no sense because I don’t even talk to people in game outside of arena which is done in a discord as well

If your suspended or banned from in game then that transfers over to the forums! Only thing you can do is appeal the ban and wait for the review to be done. Nothing can be done over the forums.

It’s very possible that the gold you received in Classic TBC was illicit gold. This would indeed make it look like you were buying gold.

Unfortunately, these sorts of transactions are rarely above board and tend to end up in some sort of scam/illicit activity. While trading gold like this isn’t against the rules, it’s also completely unsupported.

Personally, unless you were trading with a close friend (irl) or a family member, my recommendation would be not to partake in these sorts of exchanges.

You’re welcome to appeal again until such time that you are told that no further appeals will be entertained, but if the gold you received was from an illicit source, then it’s unlikely that the account action will be overturned.

why would I just be friends with people that have gold on a specific server I’m not already on?

Every streamer just has “SWAPPING FAERLINA GOLD FOR RETAIL GOLD” plastered on his stream and has not been banned

What about boosts for gold. We can’t possibly vet everyones gold…

I think you are not being genuine at all and this is the sort of robotic frustrating response that has blizzard being disliked by people atm

I purchased 200 dollars in wow tokens (legal) and looking for players to swap with (legal) and my account that purchased the tokens is not banned but the alt account that I boosted (under same name) did get banned

This cannot be anything other than a mistake

  • edit - Also what if my friends buy gold rofl and I didn’t know and they swapped me. There are so many holes in what you are saying its upsetting as I am an AVID RULE FOLLOWER who when friends told me “bro just buy gold its way cheaper” I said no I don’t wnat to be banned.

I’m being punished for following rules not breaking them

Well, unfortunately I am being genuine.

Boosts for gold - Unsupported. If you give them the gold and they walk off with it, tough. Blizz won’t return it. If the gold is obtained illicitly, then both parties could face consequences.

Streamers advertising an unsupported transaction is not the same as them using or buying illicit gold either. Not to mention that they’d not likely be doing so with their main accounts either. But as I mentioned, this is unsupported, not against the rules.

Then both of your accounts could be actioned. Would they definitely be? We can’t really say. But yes, it’s possible.

But again, your only option is to reopen your appeal. There are no GMs on the forums.

To be frank, throwing a fit on the forums isn’t going to get what you want; the blues here don’t handle account actions and the ones that do are only done via tickets. Doesn’t matter what streamer say/done, doesn’t mean it’s true. If you’re going to believe what some streamer say, then Blizzard isn’t going to fix this mistake, regardless how you frame it.

What streamers do or don’t do isn’t relevant to anything.

You are welcome to continue to appeal. If things played out as you describe, then you did not break the rules, but it is an unsupported transaction. Hopefully, after looking into it again they will agree that you did not break the rules. But even if that happens, unsupported transactions run the risk that you will lose your gold.

Um, I think you’re the one not reading the replies properly.

Nobody said you did. It was said as an example of being an unsupported transaction that if you did get scammed, Blizzard would not return the gold.

The action itself, while unsupported, is allowed.

The POINT that is being made here is that if the gold provided on the receiving realm had been acquired by that player giving it to you by illicit means, then that is where you and them can indeed be actioned - regardless if you were aware or not.

The streamer who transfer gold like this are also at risk of the gold provided has been obtained by illicit means.

This is what you seem to not understand, you’re missing a major point.

Incredibly false.

WoW Tokens are only meant to benefit you on Retail WoW. If they wanted them to be available on Classic or TBCC, then they would have their own respective platforms.

What you did is essentially exploiting the economy by trying to bridge the games. It might have been legal gold there on retail, but the moment you went through the motions of buying gold and worked to make it available to you on other games? You crossed into illegal territory and that’s no different than you buying gold from an illegal website.

You tried to work around the system and the rules and you got caught. Your ban was legitimate and you’ve got no leg to stand on here.

As Orlyia mentions in this linked post, if you end up in a “gold seller’s” distribution chain, you could very well be charged with participating in Real Money Trading (RMT).

Since we do not allow disciplinary actions to be discussed on the forums, I’m going to close this topic. But I will address some of the inaccuracies in your statements:

  1. Your account was not banned. You received a suspension, as a warning that buying gold is against the rules.
  1. Your account was not suspended because you sent gold to yourself from a different Blizzard account.
