If they don’t bring Anduin back at some point in Dragonflight then this whole expansion is just going to be ruined. It’s obviously intended to be a feel-good, return-to-form type of expansion and not dull and depressing like Shadowlands, and having Wrathion’s boyfriend not be there for the fun because he’s busy hanging out with some old hag in hell is going to completely ruin the vibe!

I agree, I’d like our king to be put in more risky scenarios. He is too protected. How am I supposed to cut his cute little zipline cord to make him fall to his death if he won’t even get out there and zipline?

Well with the current Anduin dialog, it sounds as if Anduin is staying back in Shadowlands to his vacation from the next xpac with Sylvanas.
This is exactly right; Blizzard is keeping him in Shadowlands because otherwise they know they’ll know his romantic relationship with Wrathion will have to come up in this story now that Wrathion is going to be a main character again, and they’re not ready for it, I guess!

Activision and Blizzard are being sued because they allowed a POS to fester until feces hit the fan. It doesn’t seem feasible to hold out hope for a company that allowed those sorts of things to happen to actually have much of a moral compass outside of press releases and public relations.
We all know they will never be ready until all of the homophobes who play their games get a dose of reality elsewhere. Those same homophobes screaming “keep sexuality out of my games” at the same time that they stare at pixels resembling breasts and butts would never be able to readjust to reality if LGBTQ+ was shoved into their face.
It would be a good dose of reality for homophobes who flocked to WoW after the rest of the gaming industry has slowly but surely started to move to pro-LGBTQ+. Honestly though, does anyone really believe Activision and Blizzard will pull a 180? To believe a company which allowed that much crap hit the fan before they were finally sued to actually come out and pull a Disney at this point though?
Blizzard says they know their community and they’re proving quite a lot it if they keep Anduin in Shadowlands at this point.

This sounds like an awesome friendship thing to me. I could see the two of them planning to do fun adventures, and then actually getting to do them once they have both grown up.
I don’t see why everyone is making this romantic. It seems like one of those power of friendship moments to me. I think it would be a great idea if they got to go on adventures during the next expansion.
I also hope that our characters get to go on a lot of adventures as well.

Ah yes, by all means let’s play into the ‘a man can’t be empathetic or kind unless he’s gay’ AND the ‘two characters of the same sex can’t be JUST friends without secretly wanting to shag’ tropes all in one package >_> (that also applies to two characters of opposite sexes, but it seems especially prevalent in pop culture for the slash/yaoi fangirls to rabidly 'ship two male characters together if they’re young and attractive regardless of actual canon or even in this case the writer outright saying she writes them as only friends when directly answering a tweet from a wranduin 'shipper.

I actually like this idea, given it was referenced in the books / lore beforehand and sort of foreshadowed in a way.
I love their relationship as angsty best buds - they kind of remind me of Aziraphale & Crowley from ‘Good Omens’.
Reading this thread makes me think of Aladdin. This would be perfect to model the Wrathion/Anduin story off of!
Or you know, some non-phobic people might just find the idea of such a ship massively distasteful, given Wrathion is a child?
