I am trying to remember my old rogue combat daggers in wrath. IIRC, combat/daggers was bad but combat/sword was good.
I like daggers as it makes me feel like a rogue and the playstyle.
I don’t think it really compares, and I haven’t really seen anyone suggest it - especially since it’ll be much easier to hit crit cap.
Assassination of course uses daggers, and is an S-tier spec throughout Wrath.
It’s still swords and axes, the built in old wf talent is superior to 5% crit with daggers, and killing spree wants harder hitting weapons, which daggers just won’t compare.
That said, Assassination gets overhauled, and if you want daggers, going mut is meta. It’s S+ in Naxx, and gets weaker as the expansion goes on due to its reliance on poisons, but, it still holds strong as an S tier dps. Towards the latest stages of the game, and capping out on bis, fury and combat will overtake it, but it still decimates every other dps.
Something to note is that on pure single target it’ll generally still be stronger, as Fury and Combat both excel at cleave fights due to their abilities naturally cleaving (well, with BF for Combat).

I think you will still want to level as combat swords before swapping to daggers at max level

Mutilate is far superior to any combat dagger spec. Spree scales with wep damage so it’s semi wasted with daggers. Mutilate is a lot more fun imo too.
It’s not that combat daggers doesn’t work, it’s just that mutilate is better.

Axes gain sword spec in wrath. Orcs will be better off running axes then swords.

Combat dagger is dead and gone in wrath. Killing spree demands 2 slow weapons, meaning it is weakened by daggers.
Swords are dumb

What mace? Axes get added to sword spec and the talent is renamed to hack and slash.

ptr is the wotlk client currently, test it out yourself
Mut works from any direction but still gets penalized like any other attack from the front, like dodge, parried, etc. 20% damage increase if the target is poisoned, but the base damage is up’d nicely and the talents line up real solid for a good amount of innate crit, and DW spec, as well as grabbing 20% more mut damage from Opportunity in sub.
LK mut is bonkers nice.

Go assassination overall it just does better DPS in the 1st phase Combat daggers um The short answer is no it’s not good I don’t remember if swords is the weapon you go if I’m being honest I think it might actually be maces because of the armor pen but.
Not entirely sure on that if I’m being completely honest back in the day I did assassination and I went sword combat so I would look it up honestly.
