Currently the statement is no plans for wrath era right now. I would say sod is seeming pretty chill and my friends do say they are excited for mop, which I would be ok with them stopping in.
I mean wrath would be nice but in retrospect tbc is pretty nostalgic rn, As for cata not playing an expansion you do not like is good and taking a break from wow or playing one of the 3 current modes you actually do like is preferable than playing the one you do.

All I’m saying is that the content doesn’t go anywhere, you can still farm Mims Head from Yogg, you can still go for gear. Yes, doing WotLK content in Cata will be different but that’s not my point, I stated clearly that the content doesn’t go anywhere, that you can go back and do any dungeon and raid and obtain its items just like how you can go back and do any dungeon and raid from Classic and TBC.
I’m talking about content, not systems, it has nothing to do with what I’m talking about and I’m not playing dumb about why people want WotLK Era servers, I think it’s quite obvious why people want them.
And yet I see people form groups for Classic and TBC raids for achievements and mounts, crazy I know.

It seems relevant to me that doing WotLK content in Cata is absolutely nothing like doing it in WotLK. If you had a point, I’m not sure what it was. Seems like a dumb semantic hangup when any reasonable person would agree that WotLK content is essentially dead when the next expansion comes out.
Content is changed drastically when the systems are also changed drastically. It’s extremely disingenuous to act like doing WotLK content in Cata is remotely similar to doing it in WotLK.

I’m all in for Cata and even I agree with you.
I just treat wotlk like it already is wrath era. I do a janky mostly-guild-couple-pug ICC two nights a week (on that HLK struggle bus), wintergrasp and battlegrounds, and wpvp on friday night (Grobbulus = BiS). Battleground queues are slow outside of primetime, but doesn’t matter to me since that’s the only time I play. BG weekend and random during the evenings is still 1-2 minute wait tops. So basically it already feels like wrath era and I get to enjoy it for a few more months.
I haven’t played arena in two months, but from what I’ve seen in-game chat those queues are sort of suffering, especially 5s. I might still try out 2s or 3s to go for 2k, but I don’t really enjoy arena and am okay with using previous season helm/shoulders. I would love to just be done with the gear treadmill and zug zug, but I’ll probably give cata a shot. Overload mastery and casting-while-moving seems pretty cool for elemental, but people have told me burst dmg isn’t as impactful in cata compared to wotlk, so we’ll see.
Wrath is the most nostalgic version of wow so far for me. But until we get an update for permanent wrath classic era servers. I have no interest in any of the classic wow updates currently.
Blizzard needs to give the option to play in cataclysm and clone our characters to permanent wrath classic servers if we want to.

I don’t think they need to do anything, as it stands there’s no plans currently for WotLK Era servers and if you don’t want to continue playing in Cataclysm then I guess this is where we say goodbye.

Well they’re not going to be keeping any WotLK Era servers so if you want to play that you’ll have to look elsewhere once Cataclysm comes.

I don’t think I will. I will just keep complaining until blizz gives us the one permanent wrath classic realm we have been requesting for like 5 months now.
