Wrath Classic: For a Limited Time Get Up to 30% Off on Paid Faction Changes

Yup! Sulfuras will be 90% horde by next week.

Broooo where is race change lmao this is so wrong and tone deaf

Sometimes it’s not worth engaging certain posters that wish to ignore the information already given.

I linked a video from a Blizzard dev, where he stated that the faction and race change services has changed a lot over the years, but especially the race change service and that is why the latter will take more time.

Yes, when you faction change, you do select a new race from the new faction. Does that mean they can rip that part of the faction change service code and use it for same-faction race changes? Not according to the Bliz dev and since you’re not privy to the actual code, your protestations are based purely out of ignorance.

You can go mewl to the Blizzard dev and call him a liar for what he said months ago and offer up your ignorant “big brain” suggestions to expedite race change service. Good luck with that.

Actually, he said that Faction Change remains mostly unchanged, while Race Change has seen a drastic change.

LOL - so, first of all… Blizzard has a LONG history of implementing things that will create the highest potential profit, and secondly, perhaps you could explain why Race Change is more complex than Faction Change?

With a Faction Change, your character goes through a LOT more changes than if you had a Race Change: Mounts change, Reputations change, Achievements change, gear changes, etc.

So, in your infinite wisdom, how is Race Change more complex?

In the linked video, they said they were not even going to offer these services, which goes against the $$$ shake-down component.

Yeah, I agree that faction change has more things that is done. That said, it sounds like these are completely independent services in terms of coding and it sounds like you just can’t rip things out of faction change to use as a spaghetti code race change service.

Lol - we all knew they’d be implementing them. Notice how they changed their minds?

The code itself would overlap between the two services. Am I saying you can rip a certain section of the code and paste it in for Race Change? Not necessarily, but what I am saying is that the code is already there - everything that happens in a race change happens in a faction change. The only difference is that more things happen in a faction change.

Well, probably not.

For example, let’s look at reputation and mounts. For faction change, let’s take orc to human, and race change, gnome to human.

In the faction change service, they would eliminate the Ogrimmar rep and replace it with Stormwind rep. For race change, I believe they would flip the reputation (at least they used to).

In the faction change service, they tie racial mounts to cross-faction races, so wolf mounts might get converted into horse mounts. For race change, they probably would just flip mech striders with horses.

The changes might be similar but it’s different stuff that gets switched around (so, while there are adjustments to reputation and mounts in both services, you can’t just copy and paste the stuff from the faction service because it doesn’t address the specifics of the same faction race changes.

Why are the race change coding changes a lot different in retail today? I dunno. Have to trust the dev on that.

At least get rid of the 30 day cd so people can buy two and race change.

if this had been available on WotLK launch, or TBC launch for that matter, you might have made some money. At this point, hasn’t everyone who wanted to change sides already re-rolled or moved on - or both?

You realize you’re furthering my point… right?

In a faction change, your mount transition is determined by the race you choose to become.

For example, if you’re a Human, with their respective mounts, and you choose to become a Tauren, your new mounts would be that of the Tauren - Kodos.

It’s completely the same:

  • Faction Change sees Reputations changed (in a more dramatic way); Race Change sees this, too
  • Faction Change sees Mounts changed, even a little more than in a race change; Race Change sees this, too
  • You get to select a new race, customizing your character’s physical attributes in both cases

You can’t have Faction Change without having the coding for Race Change. That’s just not how it works.

“trust the dev” we have consistently seen these people move for profit and turn a blind eye to player quality of life…

Really hope that on this official “long awaited” post for faction change they take note of the fact not one person was pleased or said they were looking forward to faction change and the majority of the comments are people asking for race change lol
Cool blizzard cool…

Bring back Joyous Journeys please…

Soon most players will be “done” with the Dragonflight S1 content (probably over the next 2 months) and we’ll be in a temporary content drought again, so it would be nice to have for those Classic binges while we wait for .1

they likely will do JJ again when ulduar phase is nearing its conclusion and they want people to get people back in by playing alts to prepare for the not so exciting release of TOC phase

Still no word from blizzard on race change, they’ve completely publicly ignored every response to their blog post stating we want race change instead of faction change

We need more people to keep bumping this thread and maybe they will see and do something that the player base actually wants

The world does need more tail tugging.

TOC is my least favorite raid tier from vanilla to legion. Yes, that list includes the raid tier unofficially known as garrisons.

I think this is a good sign that race changes are actually coming at some point. If this was a blatant money grab to make people race change with a double faction change purchase, that cooldown wouldn’t be there.

There is already a Horde to Alliance Faction imbalance at end game content. So large that Horde recently hit 100 guilds to clear Fame for Vault of the Incarnates Mythic while Alliance has only 25 guilds.

So your answer to this Blizzard is to make it easier for more Alliance to jump ship?

Maybe its time to stop offering discounts and just remove the faction barrier and open cross faction guilds so people can play what they want just like the do with race choice
