WrA Alliance = Dead?

I was gunna respond with “we can only hope,” but your response works too.

From an Alliance-primary player’s perspective:

Boralus has a lot of players present, but it’s mostly people doing content or having semi-IC smalltalk while waiting in queues. Gone are the days of open RP with several randos at places like the Raven’s Nest, Curious Octopus, Groggery, or Fireside Anchors.

Dwarf community is active, but it seems mostly focused around events rather than “open walkup RP.” Looks similar with other “race-specific” RP (nelfs, draenei). The “Living Kul Tiras” community and discord is dead, with its supposed leader playing GW2 and the founder playing Classic.

Stormwind has most (if not all) of the open walkup RP, although most of people that loiter at the magetower ramp are barely IC. It’s usually found by the Lamb, in Lion’s Rest (the former Park) and sometimes Old Town. But the crowds seem to run a bit later, with things being more interesting around 9pm ST. At least that’s my experience.

In general, Alliance RP activity is way down from Jan 2019 (when there was a resurgence as players prepared for Kul Tirans) or Sept/Oct/Nov of 2018 when BFA was still new and shiny and full of hope. Mechagnomes are nowhere near as popular as Vulpera, and the nature of the new dailies/assaults means people are spending more in-game time doing content than before. Oh, and lots of Alliance leveling up Velf DKs. So many Velf DKs…

Alliance RP is definately down, but it is by no means out. So long as you poke around a bit and know where to look, you can probably find RP.

Also, I blame the Mechagnomes. How dare they not be Sethrak or Ulduar-style Mechagnomes. Meme community seems to point to that lackluster allied race being a cause of why the Vulpera flock is strong.

Yeah, overall the Mechagnomes are a slightly-disturbing “so you lopped off perfectly good body parts for mechanical parts in an attempt to be like the pre-curse-of-flesh gnomes, and that’s… a race? Sounds more like a strange cargo cult.”

(And yes, this has been the IC conversation had…)

Indeed. A large part of why RP is so spread out in Stormwind is because you have so many actual places that make sense for a scene. A list of similar stuff stuff Orgrimmar could use include…

  • More empty dwellings/stores. Half of the drag and the city past the Brawl’gar arena are still under construction.

  • An area full of altars/shrines/circles for various rites and ceremonies.

  • A library. Not the usual kind, but rather a hall full of scrolls, stone tablets, runes and relics. A place for mages and mystics to gather.

  • Taverns with different layouts and vibes. The Slaughted Lamb, Pig and Whistle, and Blue Recluse all have different atmospheres and Lion’s Pride is right nearby. Meanwhile The Wyvern’s Tail and Broken Tusk are identical.

  • A proper fighting ring. The Brawl’gar arena is great, but there’s no place for all those swaggering orcs to settle arguments except for outside Orgrimmar gates or in the middle of the VoH.

Oh man don’t even get me started on the changed I’d do to Orgrimmar I have so many.

A place of Horde history would be FANTASTIC. Orcish history needs to be kept track of and if they had some Shal’dorei and Orc historians working together to preserve old history…gah I would love it so soso much. Put some tables and chairs, clickable books with lores maybe watch old cutscenes. Little hidden fun things like a secret up stairs.

Honestly I’d love a proper fighting ring, I’d love see Brawl’gar be more updated. The alliance one feels cooler because it feels secret and shady but if there was an area that could be utilized properly with multiple pits…maybe have One quest connected to it so people don’t “This is useless”.

And yes MORE stores, more dwellings more needless things that makes a world feel alive. Tamanii are u an orc because you’re speakin my language.

I roleplay a lot in the Brawl’gar arena and would kill to see something like the Alliance’s underground brawler’s guild. Club-like lighting and ambiance. Individual booths. A bar with more than 7 chairs. Spectator seating that’s more than crates and barrels and actually allow a good view of the action…

Orgrimmar is full of goblins! We should totally have a disco/night club!

Getting off topic, though.

I think a big factor regarding WrA’s Alliance RP is the fact that a lot of people have migrated to Moonguard to scratch that itch. Alliance Moonguard is huge and very active. Bigger than Horde WrA, even! When I look at my bnet list, I tend to see people on Moonguard on their Alliance alts. They come to WrA when they want Horde RP.

And you can’t RP without other people to RP with.

I use to have Alliance on MG but since Cross Faction has been more accessable I moved them.
This is why I can’t see Moonguard and Wrymrest Accord as seperate “universes” as some try to do.
But the only way to make WRA Alliance…well, empty, is for people to stop leaving for MG and put effort into the people who are here…

It 100% is I love this and I will use it on my alliance toons :stuck_out_tongue:

In all seriousness I’m not a fan of mechagnomes in part because they took one of the already least played races in game, and made an allied race out of it… It was never going to be popular.

Did they think of High Elves!!?!?! D:

With regards to random RP in Stormwind though I’ve DEFINITELY noticed a large drop off. There’s little to no random RP at the late hours that I tend to get online (around 12am is when I often start - Australianism) Around that hour, random RP practically doesn’t exist anymore. :frowning: Horde is still bustling, but I really do miss RPing my Alliance toons. Most of their plots are now private and organised.

I mean, it’s pretty clear they did, but just don’t feel like giving it.

Personally, Sethrak would have been more thematically appropriate as a allied race and probably would have helped breathe more life into the Blue RP scene.

Mostly true because you can find things going on almost every night of the week! That said, however, a lot of us are totally cool with walk-ups! Just gotta find us, first. >_>

We’ve got open tavern nights Fridays in Ironforge and Sundays in Anvilmar where you can just walk in and interact with folks, so people come and go freely.

Fair enough. Personally I find races that appear in only one zone and probably won’t be story significant again to be pretty eh, but that’s just me. Maybe sneakysneks would be fun to RP, I dunno haha.

All I want for Christmas is a faction of non-evil naga. :stuck_out_tongue:

Part of me is still hoping that there is actually an 8.3 and it adds the Catpeople and Rajani as allied races.

I wish I could agree but… it just doesn’t make sense. The Horde do so much more for the Sethrak. They kill the traitor who was leading their race to ruin, they restore the Sethrak Loa to life, they bring peace between them and the Vulpera, etc…

I’m not saying there aren’t ways to make them want to side with the Alliance (I just don’t think I could agree with any as the Sethrak will still be on a Horde landmass), but if we’re going down that route, then Blizzard should’ve just made the Vulpera neutral. Yes, the Alliance attacked them. So did the Sethrak, and the Vulpera worked with them because Kiro was smart enough to realize that not all Sethrak are the same. If he’d gone to the Alliance to try and resolve the matter diplomatically, there’s no way Anduin wouldn’t have responded.

It would’ve led to a Ji/Aysa situation. I’m sure Nisha would’ve seen it as base betrayal by Kiro after the Alliance attacked Vulpera caravans, and Kiro would’ve seen Nisha’s brash and violent nature as an extreme detriment to the future of the Vulpera.

Anyways, that ship has sailed. Maybe the Alliance will get the Saberon next. I wouldn’t mind seeing the Alliance get a chance to go to Draenor, probably to recruit Yrel and her people. If there are Saberon allied with Yrel and the Draenei, they’d make a fine addition. Its not as if we didn’t have friendly Saberon during WoD. Leorajh, the shaman, even had an epiphany of sorts and became enlightened. I can only imagine how much further the race could’ve gotten with the Draenei’s support.

I’d gladly play a Saberon Paladin, that’s for sure.

If it means anything, I was pushing hard for Gilblins. Goblins are likewise the least played race in their respective faction, even less popular than Gnomes in the Alliance going by the numbers.

Which is is one of many ways in which Gilblin/Mechagnomes could have been mirrors of one another and added another aspect to their thematic rivalry.

It would have if we had continued our collaboration with them after the War Campaign, but I feel like Blizzard cut that potential content.

don’t talk crap about my robo-boys. They’re doing their best. :frowning:

Sethrak? More like Sethcrap, amirite?!

They’re fine, I just don’t think pairing them with a new race was a smart move.

But at the same time I hate that Allied Races exist to snipe customizations from the base races in general. So… :woman_shrugging:

It’s true, we’re all dead. I’m dead, every blue poster is dead. Everybody’s dead, Dave.
