WPVP and 1v1s are now are ridiculously bad guys. Every fight ends in 5 seconds or less and is about who can cast their instants and maybe their cc to maybe possibly who knows get 1 cast off before someone is dead. It is not nearly as fun as playing longer battles between classes. Seriously every matchup feels like a race to burst the other player out and if you can’t do that in 5 seconds you lose. Nobody is using their class to even half its potential, you literally get 3-4 gcds and the fight is over.
I do not see why there can’t be a healing reduction or damage increase on wsg flag carrier as a debuff also. This seems to be everyone’s main focus when a damage reduction which is large enough to make a difference is applied. Most of my endgame pvp is not wsg it is WPVP and to focus all damage around what works in WSG is not the answer imo.
The 50% damage reduction felt amazing for duel length and 1v1s, 2v2s in wpvp but everyone said WSG was not fun. 20% or whatever the reduction is at currently is not nearly close to enough for everything outside of WSG.
I am not even having fun doing 1v1s in wpvp right now because it seems like whoever starts the fight wins and if you have a half second advantage you definitely win. 1 cc you definitely win. God forbid you try to 2v1 anyone, you are dead in 2 gcds.
My rotation for wpvp mainly goes like this - Void Plague, Shadow Word Pain, Silence, Mind Blast Shadow Word Death. That is it fights over. No chance to apply vamp touch of vamp embrace, no chance to really play a drawn out fight and use my Shadowfiend or any other parts of my class. It just feels bad and I know I can’t be the only one who feels this is very boring. I mean instant aimed shot to chimera dealing 4k? Boomkin gets 1 starfire off and you are DEAD DEAD with 4.5k hp, ret paladins just delete your healthbar in hoj, rogues kill you every time if you do not have trinket for kidney. Everything is too fast.
PLEASE at least double the current damage reduction I recommend back to the 50% except flag carrier.
I see why you are not having fun in WPVP. You are playing a shadow priest, the class with zero mobility and zero defense.
It’s like being a glass cannon that’s all glass and no cannon. They hit us and we shatter into broken glass which may or may not kill them afterwards from the bleeding inflicted.
Also the class most effected by the heavy handed pvp damage reduction aura, which seems to reduce dot damage by 40%
Irrick - Classic was not THIS bursty. battles were not over in 3-5 cds unless you were specifically a class that was like a pom pyro mage or a backstab rogue with thistle tea. Not every class every spec.
Looshfarmer - I have been playing a shadowpriest since classic original. Shadowpriest actually does have defense and lifedrain and bubble, but at the moment you can’t even waste a gcd to cast bubble mid fight because 750 damage reduction for 1 gcd is not enough.
You are also wrong saying shadowpriest is most affected by damage reduction, shadowpriests like to set all their dots and VE up which takes time. Usually a battle where you cannot insta kill them they will have the advantage because they get all their spells rolling.
It’s definitely LESS bursty than classic era. Warriors just straight up do 20% less burst damage. Shaman’s Lava Burst crits for less than Chain Lightning on Era.
I think damage/healing is fine. PvP feels great. 2 min PvP trinkets would be nice to account for all the extra CC, but the game is playable with a 5 min trinket.
It was in fact even more bursty.
DPS Classes that could you kill you in two gcds in classic era PvP:
Elemental Shaman
Ambush Rogue
Reck Bomb pallies
Any Geared Mage with trinket
Geared Warlock with trinket
Geared Sword warrior vs mail/leather/cloth, if combined with windfury basically reck bomb pally on steroids
Two hand enhancement shamans vs cloth
T3 hunter vs any leather/clothie
The exceptions are pretty much druids and shadow priests.
Shadow priests begin able to solo pretty much almost all classes in classic, i bet you play one hence why you never noticied all the burst classic have.
Shadow priests are bad pvp in classic now because not only you gotta choose between dispersion and your most powerful dot, everyone and their mom have p3 bracers with fear immunity, more defensive cds and all trinkets remove fear.
You also have still a 20% melee damage nerf in sod and 30% spell damage nerf too.
Ele shamans - can only really burst noobs that stand within 20 yards for while they cast em + chain.
Ambush rogue isn’t killing any decent pvp player that is within 2 seconds of their computer
Ret reck paladin needs to be crit 4 times to burst someone - that is far more than 2 gcds of setup.
pom pyro mage can burst but if you pot in middle most of the time they run out of juice. And there is a cd on pom.
Geared warlock needs to cast if it wants to burst, anyone letting a warlock freecast on them in pvp has bigger problems.
And its crazy you name almost every class - because all classes are good on Era. You should see the burst of smite priests they can get 2k crits from miles aways, but its not OP because the game is balanced unlike SoD.
Era pvp is balanced for player that gear properly and are at their keyboard playing. It is only super bursty if someone is using a big cd and expensive setup, or the enemy is a noob. Good players take time to kill each other because they properly use abilities and defensives.
The are soo many interaitons where this call is wrong tha i would suggest you hold on your opinon if you are this bad.
Legit gotta be tremendously bad to not pull off a 1 shot combo as ele shaman. Most super hard situations would require a EM+CL+ES with invul pot/GT at wrost case scenario. However 99% of the situations would be pretty much EM+CL+ES.
It’s a 1 shot, or close to 1 for most clothies(other than sp/sl locks) the only way to counter it is stacking stamina which most people running around the world arent doing.
And those two specs are rpetty rare in this regard unless you are already out to pvp.
Btw you could argue decent players had more chances in sod than classic era pvp simple because they have more gcds at their disposal to trade.
Another horrendous bad take be a rogue a fury, warr or a hunter pet, getting reck bomb stacks isnt hard at all.
And i still stand correct because you dont have to spend even a gcd only an auto attack.
basically you fully agree with the statement then
btw pom is optional.
A caster need to cast.
Yes, correctly. And any warlock eating intterupts in classic era is bad af lmao.
Its in a version of the game where interrupts are more rare, linked to gcds and cost resources… and you still have coil and seduce and fear.
They aren’t good they just have a way to 1 shot someone a reck bomb paladin is a literal meme spec and elemental/enhancement shaman are soo far behind other dps that its pointless to bring them, its a waste of a spot for PvE for example, they can only do that in pvp because its balance in era is uninxistent and they aren’t even the better ones at 1 shotting lol.
Rogues and mages can set up 1 shots much more easily and do actual pve content as dps.
No, you wont find anybody remotely serious about pvp in general saying mmo pvp alone is balanced.
Saying classic era pvp is balanced is just an absurd extra step.
Classic era prime pvp experience is playing 12 hours a day like a vagabond and the most optional way to do it is by swiping the card on several consumables.
Your delusional gdkp takes hold more ground than your pvp ones, still mad you not profiting over spamming rank 1 fol in naxx gear?
Classic pvp no one played an ele sham. People tend to say oh warriors only needed a healer to do anything not true. The best classes in classic pvp were brain dead shadow priests which could 1v1 basically anyone as long as they had mana, warriors with faps/fire or shadow protection pots, and destro locks that knew how to use succys seduce and once locks got naxx geared good luck you weren’t gonna have a chance. Rogues were good in 1v1s but most would get countered by someone using a fap or the rogue not carrying the right consumes, which lets face it rogues were to busy crying to learn how to play their class.
The only time people were playing ele sham in pvp was when the ZG trinket was released so they could 1 shot people and if i remember correctly that trinket got nerfed pretty quickly.
Lol. You have to had not played the game or something.
Everyone was ele and a handful of enhancers not sure what server you played in if you actually played classic. You went ele from p1 with dire maul open
Depends on what you mean by classic. I played in 05 as ally rarely ran into ele shams and if I did i was like 13 playing on a laggy ole emachines computer so i might have forgotten. But in 2019 i ranked up to rank 14 on horde and everytime i saw a shaman i would call them my personal windfury totem.
