What is up with people who think non milestone anniversaries expect Blizzard to give you some big items like a mount? 18 years means nothing. Maybe on the 20th then sure. Can’t wait for all these tears from people whining on the forums because they don’t get a free mount, pet, content, etc. for an 18th anniv.

They give a mount this year too again sorry to say…they gave in last year 17th and gave us a chance at a mount and even changed the dang drop rate day 1 cause of the complaints…that’s were this game is now…complain enough you’ll get the shinny stuff free and easy.
Hey, the game’s old enough to vote, that’s something of a milestone!
Thing about rare mounts is they are rare. If tomorrow they gave everyone the opportunity to get the scarab lord mount and you went to stormwind and seen 50 people on them, well it’s just another mount.
So what is meant by “rare”
And I would rather have something that’s quality and new.
The hoi polloi got a free mount? Just because it’s an anniversary, and not even a multiple of a five year anniversary? Oh the horror! This would cause a rift in the space time continuum, without a doubt! End times triggered!

PresterJoe has a good point, why is ‘milestone’ only a multiple of five? Expansions are on a two-year basis, so five-year milestones are going to skip some expansions completely. Especially when thinking of a game, which isn’t expected to last decades upon decades, milestones really don’t have to be spaced so far apart.
Keep them there too. I still like my idea.
For the 18th anniversary, we should get Metzen back.

I agree with you. Its like the ZA bear mount it meant something to have that. In classic everyones main and 5 alts have it.
This is done in Elder Scrolls Online, and it’s a fantastic idea that I hope they bring to WoW!! Collecting currency from each holiday to spend it as you wish, throughout the year, when something pops up that really catches your eye, feels so good. And feels like you really earned it over time, rather than WoW’s extreme speedrun super-rare mentality of “you have one week to grind as much as you can”-- you instead can leisurely complete a few activities in each holiday and enjoy rewards at your own pace.
