WoW1 VS WoW2

Hi, I’m new to WoW but wasn’t sure whether to choose WoW1 or WoW2; I was planning to buy the Shadowlands Epic Edition bundle while it’s on sale but didn’t realize the subscriptions are separate. So wanted to check here on which server is recommended or if it matters.

It’s my perception, but I could be wrong, that, when a new xpac comes out, the previous one becomes part of what you get when you subscribe. I plan on seeing if I’m right when 10.0 is released since I never bought SL.

While this is generally correct, it doesn’t address the question :\

Do you currently have any characters on either of those accounts that you intend on playing in the Shadowlands content?

It depends on what you want to do - if you want to raid/M+ and other high end stuff, you’d want a high pop server. If not, and want to just do dungeons and some solo stuff, any server is fine.

WoW1 and WoW2 are World of warcraft accounts under your Battlenet account; so depending on which one you plan on using you should upgrade that account. Just remember, you can’t use characters on whichever account you don’t have active subscription on. Pick the one you have active characters on, upgrade that.

You are correct. I guess what I was trying to say is that, for an xpac that seems to have undergone a lot of criticism, why pay money for it (even at a discount) when it will soon be available for ‘free’.

I created a handful of characters on WoW1 to see test classes and find one I like; the one I plan on using is only lv 6 though. I ideally want to eventually do raiding, so I guess whichever one is more active doing Heroic/Mythic raids would be preferred.

If it were me, I would purchase Shadowlands on the WoW account that has the level 6 character you intend on leveling.

You can have up to 8 WoW accounts per battle.net account. Each WoW account is its own set of purchases and subscriptions. Some of us have multiple accounts so that we can multibox (playing multiple characters in multiple clients at the same time), but if you’re not multiboxing, you’ll typically just use one account.

How long until 10.0? I figured it’d be a year or two since its on 9.2 :o. I was mainly doing the heroic edition cause it comes with 30 days of gametime, so figured it was worth it from what it includes.

That wouldn’t be surprising. 10.0 hasn’t been announced yet, so we’re still a long way off. Nobody knows the date for sure yet.

I go with the progression: vanilla '04, tbc '06, wotlk '08, cata '10, mop '12, wod '14, legion '16, bfa '18, sl '20, 10.0 '22???

Atm I’m just wanting to get started; maybe one day I’ll multibox but not planning to atm. Just wanted to check first to see what players recommended.

Aren’t they announcing it in April? So possible from the perspective of someone who knows nothing about WoW lol

I don’t really know about the how and when of announcements anymore since they ended blizzcon.

I just heard it somewhere recently that they were announcing the next expansion sooner than expected or something.

Does anyone know if the shadowlands expansion go on sale often?

From a marketing standpoint, if what I said about it becoming free is correct, it’s my perception that they would put it on sale to get a few more bucks out of it before they start charging for the next xpac.

Does the mount/pet in the bundle become available in the shop when the new expansion comes out?

I would highly doubt will see 10.0 till the fall they havent even started the alpha yet for whatever expansion is gona be september or later is my guess.

On April 19, the World of Warcraft development team will reveal the next expansion. We’re excited to show you what we’ve been working on and where your adventures in Azeroth will go next.

At some point after the announcement, there will be a sign-up for the Beta. The Beta usually takes a couple months. Personally I would expect the new expansion Nov/Dec.

When Shadowlands rolls into the base game likely won’t be announced until around the time it happens.

There is a chance it will be even later. With the changes to M+ and raids coming up the expansion may be 2023 while WoTLK Classic in 2022.

Im sure they have more then 1 team 1 for classic and 1 for retail.
