You are incorrect. It most certainly was sold out for 6 months except in VERY small shipments of 6 or fewer copies at a time. We were backordered at our game store at least that long. Chinese people from Canada would come in wanting to buy every copy in the store. We have guys trying to bribe us $500 to steal collector’s editions when they came in late for preorders.
I’m not sure where you heard this but it’s not true. I bought the game in January of 2005

You’re wrong. Tens of thousands of new accounts happened during that time. I bought several copies myself. For friends of mine and Friends of my sons. You’re wrong. The player population more than doubled in their six months. Explain that if they’re all sold out?

Worked for a big retail gaming chain (eb who turned into gamestop). 11 others in our district serving a major metro area and everyone out of stock 6 months plus other retail outlets such as Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City, Toys R Us etc…
But yeah You’re “I got one” BS replies sound as convincing as the rube who chimes in “it works on my PC” when there’s a major driver glitch causing mass crashing among a popular game.

No. He made the definitive statement that it was sold out in retail stores for six months it wasn’t. Never happened.
So because stores around you were somehow sold out… even though Walmart’s everywhere kept it on the shelves just fine for some reason, that means everywhere was sold out. Was your company just dumb and not ordering more copies or… lol. There was no shortage of supply for anywhere even close to that long that doesn’t even make sense.
