Did you read the same OP I did? Because I don’t think you did.
Was he be that stupid? Yes they were. They never focus too much on PC games. Neither did the other retailers he mentioned. They all focused on console games. That’s why most PC games nowadays are digital download. It’s hard to find physical copies. Not much money to be had in selling them
Walked right into Gamestop and bought a copy on December 2004. I even remember which location. It was EB Games at the time. Either way you’re full of it.
This I believe as I bought mine at Walmart which has always been good for keeping up with PC games. And the stocks were FULL when I went to buy it because I remember picking it up with some of my friends and there was no shortage whatsoever.
I started playing in January of 2005 and I remember having to get my dad to drive me to Microcenter like 45-1hr away because every store near us 45 minutes outside of DC was sold out.
I live in walmarts home town, and I remember there were local stores sold out. I later learned that the reason is mostly regional, walmart carries products based on what the area around it buys mostly (with a few things that customers have requested that are outliers but not many). so if the area that walmart is in does not sell computer games often, it wont stock them as much. This caused a lot of walmarts to be sold out when there really was no “shortage” from blizzards side. So its entirely possible for one town to be sold out and another be fully stocked.
Actually, if you listen to the original dev’s speaking about this, they were not ready for the huge demand by players and therefore purposely limited production of box copies. This was done so they were able to bring new servers online and develop the back-end support systems to keep everything running. As they improved processes on the back end, they were able to authorise more box copies to be released.

It was never sold out. Like the o p alleges. The numbers are historic and out there. World of Warcraft launched with 200,000 players. By the end of the first quarter in 2005? There was one point five million players by the end of the second quarter? That was 3.5 million . If stores were sold out how did this happen?
It actually hurt to read this.
It already happened. That’s the point. When you project for 500k subscriptions and you look and “oh we’re already well over 1.5 million”, that creates it’s own realm of problems.
I work at a place that builds and sells outdoor yard games. We’ve grown a lot since last summer and this summer, our busy season, we didn’t have the manpower to keep up with shipping dates and had to disable certain order outlets until we could catch up. It’s the exact same principal.
Stores were never sold out.
web downloads dude lmfao
They didn’t exist then. Not for World of Warcraft. It was disc only.
This was my experience as well and same time period. I lived in one of the larger cities in Florida and drove out to a Circuit City 20 minutes away to get their sole copy of the game because every other store in a 30-40 miles radius was sold out.
I live in Tampa. Every Walmart I went to had them , so did the targets.
“Chinese people from Canada”
One wonders how many there could have been?
I also lived in Tampa. Don’t know what to tell you, dude.
My ex showed me the game. I was like, “Sure I’ll play with you.” I looked it up online and the only available copy ANYWHERE at the time was at a Circuit City in Plant City.
The most common surname in Canada is Lee.
Urban centers in Canada have large asian diasporas
A 20-minute Drive in Tampa means nothing. Definitely doesn’t mean 30 to 40 miles. 50 miles is from Tampa to Spring Hill. Every Walmart and Target I went to in Tampa had them. Like I said I bought several copies. No stores were sold out.
As for looking up store availability online at the time? That was over 15 years ago. It wasn’t reliable back then. And wasn’t something either Walmart or Target offered.
You can’t seriously be that narcissistic dude. That’s like a tornado hitting your neighbor’s house but dissipating before it hits yours and being like “well that storm wasn’t that bad…”
