From a business standpoint, it’s 200 iq. The amount of people buying gold from 3rd party sites just proved the market to be there.
How does it affect you? People were buying gold before which caused market inflation. I was selling random junk while leveling this char and farmed enough for epic flying, a darkmoon card, and plenty left over for enchants and such at 80 now.
At one point mithril bars were selling for 10g each, for about 16 hours, then they went back to the normal 5-7g. A mara run netted me about 3.5 nodes on average at 3 ore per node, not including gems this was over 500g per hour in just mithril.
Inflated markets in wow only make it easier for players who just play the game to get everything they need.
The good news about this change is that it signals Blizz is throwing in the towel on Classic WotLK and any future xpacs like Cata.
It’s a total s-show of gold buying and bot exploits. Far more than they are willing to spend resources to combat. So, get what they can to boost their own bottom line since WotLK is basically dead.
I expect RDF to arrive when ICC goes live.
Hopefully, Blizz will then turn its focus back toward Classic Era going forward.
Exactly. Classic was never truly going to be “classic”. What made classic what it was 19 years ago was the community and the mindset of the players back then. The gaming community has been constantly evolving since, and the reality is what gave classic it’s feel, was never going to be there again.
Yeah. Its as bad as people defending the removal of rdf when we asked for servers of previous expansions, as they were then. Those same ppl that defended that change are the reason we got this change.
How does it eliminate it if it’s still possible?
The fact is that if you can buy gold, the economy is shaped by this player capability.
The only option is for Blizzard to enforce bans on RMT to maintain the integrity of the game.
Making it an official mechanism with wow tokens is like having drug (h-e-ro-in-) clinics for drug users to shoot up in.
You can run a business with an eye for the long term or short term, and Blizzard is running it into the ground based on short term quarterly gains. It is why their MAUs will continue to decline and delcine until all they are left with is pay pigs who are totally fine with a completely mediocre experience.
This is the same business model every developer is pursuing right now. Why? Because it works. You may not like it, but it works for these companies and their profit > your feelings.
People have been claiming blizzard is running their company into the ground for the last 20 years. Weird, they are still here.
They better hope D4 takes off… if not, I thought they will recover any of the old glory. Its a shame Pservers are doing it better then big o’l blizzard.
