People had always bought gold before it was a thing of Blizzards. That’s why they did it because now they had put all those other businesses out of business. Although you still do make the point but they only care that they’re getting money. Clearly
diluting the market so other players cant make jack squat off mats
but far fewer multiboxers would exist without tokens…
so i still don’t understand what you’re trying to get at.
I don’t feel strongly either way. If other people pay to win, it doesn’t impact me. This isn’t a zero-sum game, fortunately. My achievements and gear can make me happy while the same achievements and gear can make other people happy.
The only issue I have is when people apply for my PuGs with fake achievements. I check logs, so it’s not an issue for me, but it makes me upset that there are people out there who aren’t getting into groups because they’re being compared to people who got carried to high ilvl and RIO.
report the people that advertise in LFG if it bothers you, it’s been confirmed that if they post in LFG where they’re not supposed to, instead of Trade chat where they are supposed to, that they do receive some sort of punishment (short ban probably).
The token was brought in to get rid of gold selling that were ripping off people for real life $$.
Chat and group finder spam is annoying but can be filtered out.
Multiboxing has always been allowed so they’ll never do anything about it unless they are a bot. It only got worse with the AH mount but that is going away.
Extreme gold inflation was why they put in gold sinks and they’ve said that’s now flattened out. They are already nerfing gold drops in certain parts of the game. And was caused mostly by how easy it was to make gold in WoD and Legion.
A lot of these things are caused by factors other than the token. The token is fine.
While I agree for the most part, you do have one part wrong. What blizzard means by “advertising” is advertising in game goods or services for real world currency, commonly known as RMT. This is strictly against the rules. Advertising in game goods and services for in game currency is perfectly normal and healthy for the game. Otherwise, just saying in trade chat “LW LFW” would be considered illegal advertising by your standard.
Going to need some source on this speculation.
How are tokens pay2win? What does it mean to ‘win’ in WoW? Having the best gear? Linking the cutting edge achievement to become the envy of your friend group?
If it weren’t for tokens I probably wouldn’t be playing the game, so I’m fine with them staying.
Helps me to avoid ever having to encounter a 30-box Druid moonfire farm that seems to infuriate everyone else.
I only wish they had the time token back in vanilla.
you essentially get to play for free.
Look OP I completely agree with everything you’ve said about WoW tokens
It’s one of the double edged swords if some people can only afford WoW with tokens (but seriously I have no idea what situations would lead to this and I’d say it’s an extremely tiny portion of the player base)
But the cost of them existing is just foul. I’ll never buy a WoW token ever as I don’t think you should be able to inject some cash into the game and then pay someone else to play it for you
They seem to counter the whole reason why the game exists
I don’t like anything about them and I wish they never existed, I wouldn’t mind them if they did a complete rebalance of WoW economy then balanced them to a more reasonable rate
Old school RuneScape have bonds and I think they’re balanced way better than WoW tokens
this is a game not a job pal. just because you like to waste the entire month grinding for gold doesnt mean everyone else does. I personally like the wow token, i dont need to spend weeks grinding for gold to get something from the ah.
That kind of side steps the whole playing the game side of things though
It barely looks like you play the game ways
some people actually like playing the game not taking on a second job. time to face it guys this isnt classic anymore. the overwhelming majority of players are not willing to waste an entire month grinding just to pay for that month only to do it again.
That’s why we pay a sub fee?
thats an option yes. but again there are other uses for it, which comes back to my point why waste months or weeks grinding when you can drop 20 bucks and buy all the toys or mogs you want?
Because the kind of removes about 99% of the content from the game if you just pay for everything
Just being able to buy everything with real money kind of defeats the whole purpose of playing the game you know
You never really earn anything at all, I don’t think that’s a standard we should set
Also carry spammer in trade chat.
Yikes
source: the quantity of multiboxers has grown massively since tokens were introduced.
(which doesn’t bother me, they didn’t touch me in a bad way… it’s just an observation)
Sorry, I’d like to see your numbers.
