I apologize if this is not the correct place to ask, but I believe the issue is also partly in-game related. Sorry for not being more concise, but support generally seems to think we (Me and my friends) are asking about the price of purchasing a WoW Token, rather than the option to convert it into Battle.net Balance. I have not been able to find any other way to ask about this, and I could not get an answer on my regional forum either.
A WoW Token can be used either to add game time or to add Battle.net Balance. In regions with regional pricing, the amount of Battle.net Balance granted has always matched the price of game time.
Recently, some currencies underwent significant price adjustments, but the WoW Token seems to have been overlooked in this process, at least in Brazil, and is still providing the old Battle.net Balance amount, which is now well below the equivalent value of game time.
I would like to know whether this will be corrected.
I have a few tokens, and I am hesitant to use them for Battle.net Balance because the current difference is nearly 25% compared to redeeming them for game time.
I mean, I’m more interested in knowing whether this is intended.
To the best of my knowledge, this has never happened before. Every time we got a price increase, the WoW Token was adjusted accordingly immediately. This time, it didn’t happen. (The price increase happened last week.)
I understand there are no devs in here, but during past price hikes Customer Support was able to confirm that the WoW Token would be adjusted, as this was a common question whenever prices increased. This time, people didn’t even bother asking because it was generally assumed it would happen. (Not to mention dedicated regional support is now essentially defunct).
in the EU it’s not possible either as you’d need 1.732 tokens e.g. 2 tokens with some leftover, but you can directly choose to add gametime anyway instead of converting to BNet balance then to gametime bundles?
In Brazil, at least, it has always, or almost always, been roughly equivalent to the value of game time.
It has also always been adjusted accordingly whenever game time prices increased.
However, we have some limitations here. We can’t purchase WoW Tokens from the in-game shop using our local currency, and if I switch my region/currency, a token costs more than BRL 100.00. At the moment, redeeming a token for Battle.net Balance grants BRL 42.00, while game time is BRL 54.90.
Yes, I wasn’t clear enough. I don’t want to convert it to Battle.net Balance just to buy game timet. It’s just a convenient way for us to purchase stuff from the shop.
I just don’t want to convert my tokens to Battle.net Balance only for the value to be adjusted afterward. As I mentioned, the difference is currently almost 25%.
As things stand, redeeming them for game time is the only option that makes sense. That’s perfectly fine, but I’d like confirmation that the current Battle.net Balance conversion value is intentional.
Back in the day, Customer Support on the forums was always able to confirm that the Battle.net Balance redemption value would also be adjusted whenever there was a price increase. It happened so consistently that we all assumed it was a given.
The latest pricing changes took effect last week. Other support channels haven’t been able to give us an answer, regional support is essentially gone, our regional forum is basically dead, and I’m not even sure we still have any active Community Managers there.
I’m just trying my options here. If no one can answer this, then it is what it is.
I mentioned “back in the day” because GMs were able to answer this question in the past.
I’m not saying it to romanticize the “good old days.” I’m pointing it out because it’s now difficult to get regional support, which is exactly why I’m (also) posting here. There are no active Community Managers in my region, and our Customer Support forum gets maybe five replies a year ever since they pulled resources out of LATAM.
But that’s beside the point. And thanks for pointing out that I may or may not get an answer. That was truly vital information.
The article in question was updated a month ago, but outside of KR and TW, there is no specific mention I’ve been able to find in any new conversions.
They already explained, they want Balance, but at the current conversion rates, getting game time is the better deal. They want to know if the conversion to Balance will be increased soon (to be closer to the game time conversion, as has been done in the past) before they decide what to do. I think I’ve summarized that correctly - OP, please correct me if I’m wrong.
It’s not about game time. The only reason I keep bringing up game time is that the Battle.net Balance redemption value has always been tied to it in our region.
If I have a bunch of tokens sitting in my inventory and I want to buy something from the shop, I’m now unsure whether the current value is intentional. If Blizzard later says, “Whoops, we forgot about that. Here’s the updated value,” after I’ve already redeemed my tokens, then I’ve effectively lost about 25% of their value.
But let’s set aside what we can or can’t do. That’s not the point. The point is that the WoW Token’s Battle.net Balance redemption value has always been adjusted to match the game time pricing in our region. That’s how it’s worked for a long time. This time, however, it remained unchanged. I just want to know whether that’s intentional or not.
Our version of the article used to display the correct value in BRL. Around the time the price increase was announced, it was updated to simply say “US$15,” which doesn’t make much sense for our region.
Yes, that’s exactly it. Thank you for the summary.
I just want to point out that the WoW Token’s Battle.net Balance redemption value has always been updated immediately after game time price increases took effect. This time, it wasn’t, which is why I’m unsure whether this is intentional, a bug, an oversight, or something else.
The best I can say is that we’re aware of it and it is being looked into.
I can’t speak for Community, but that really had nothing to do with us. The Support Forum Agent that has been posting in the Portuguese CS Forum is the same one that has been here for over a decade. That forum isn’t as busy as the English version, but I can count plenty of replies by them. You also have a fairly active MVP that I can see.
We often try to answer what we can in the CS Forums, but we’re not always able to answer everything, and often other players and MVPs provide answers themselves.
We used to have plenty of activity before around 2021. I was an MVP myself (though not in the Customer Support forum) on the old forums.
After the LATAM restructuring, it became increasingly difficult to interact with Blizzard employees about any concerns related to our region.
Dalthrox is amazing, I have no complaints there. But we can go months without any blue replies in the Customer Support forum. Between November 2024 and November 2025, we had, what, maybe five official replies outside of the translated announcements?
I’m not complaining about anyone there. It’s just that we used to have active Blizzard employees on the forums. CMs were fairly active and served as a point of contact for regional issues, but we don’t have that anymore. AFAIK, those positions don’t even exist anymore.
That’s why I posted here. I doubt an MVP would know anything about this, and I also doubt my post on the regional forum would receive any replies (Like, ever) if I hadn’t come in here. That’s where I’m coming from.
That’s more than enough. Thank you.
I just hope we eventually get some information. Until now, we were completely in the dark.
I’m Brazilian, and I can confirm that this is true. I’ve also seen threads on the Brazilian support forum go weeks without getting a response from a green poster. As for blue poster responses, they’re very rare there. That’s why, whenever I have a question, I’d rather use a translator and ask here on the English forums.
