WoW to FFXIV

As for myself the reason I am sticking around is that is I hope with old staff being fired and new staff replacing them that the next x pack will be much better than this one. However if this is not the case, and if Balmung has an opening I may decide to make the change.

At first FF14’s combat feels slower because of the longer GCD, but once you’ve leveled up and have enough OGCD abilities/haste it feels just as fast if not faster than WoW. It really varies from class to class though. Plus WoW’s “fast combat” often times has been spamming one or two buttons as fast as possible. In FF14 half of your abilities combo with the other half. Like take Samurai for example.

You do your first basic attack, then a second attack that does more damage if used immediately after that first, which then allows you the option to go like three different routes. If you use combo path A, you apply a debuff to the enemy. If you go combo path B or C, you grant yourself a buff. So you go through your rotations while also activating defensive and offensive OGCD abilities.

And that’s not even the fastest paced class. Ninja with their three chakra thing feels way faster than any class WoW has to offer.

WoW definitely offers a decent bit outside of the main end-game raid, as you mentioned, however FF14 simply has more. Just in the Gold Saucer alone you have a massive place to chase after specific “glamours”, pets, and mounts. I mean that place has an in-game TCG (which expands throughout the rest of the game to a degree), a “Chocobo Race” game where you can not only race in but even spend time breeding the perfect chocobo, and it even has a mini game incorporating your armor set!

And that’s just the Gold Saucer. That’s not to mention doing something as minor or mundane as playing an instrument in-game—which you can do. The other day (while I was checking out my old character), I ran through a tavern and heard a bard playing the Game of Thrones intro song!

Oh, and where was I going in-game? On the way to my Grand Company (not really a guild but more like a really big in-game faction) where I was able to grind my way up to the Rank of Storm…Captain? Commander? I forget the exact rank, but they have officer and enlisted ranks each with their own perks and gear available to them.

But anyway, as that rank I get NPC followers! So I go and check through a roster of NPCs who want to be my subordinates…I can send them out on missions and train them up, and then I can even run dungeons with them! They actually play pretty well for AI too.

All of that which doesn’t even touch on hunter logs, rep grinds, or super in-depth class quests for each class (which can be played all on the same character).

Ehhhhhh…I haven’t really searched through the FF14 English forums very much, but the little bit of time I have spent there shines a MUCH better light than the dumpster fire troll fest that is the WoW forums (specifically general discussion).

Now, the WoW forums used to be a MUCH better place. There used to be nearly a half dozen Community Managers who would answer questions and just in general interact with the players. At some point that stopped, however, and now it’s topic after topic of bad-faith arguing.

Didn’t care and it didn’t affect me when he played WoW, not going to care and it won’t affect me when I play FF14. It’s really not that different than when everybody playing WoW took what The Elitist Jerks said about the game as how you HAD to play. I played whatever build I found fun then, I play whatever I find fun now, and I will continue to play whatever I find to be fun.

When you know and accept you’re really not going to be getting the server first kill of xyz, it’s actually incredibly nice to be a bit more laid back and casual about everything.

From how I read the ops post he most likely isn’t typing in his mother tongue
Practicing and speaking a different language will always be more respectable than bashing people on a game forum all day

Thank you all.

To be honest I tried FFXIV, and it really does not feel or give me the feeling when I started playing WoW. It’s a great game, but am not sticking to it.

Wanted to say I try Classic WoW, but I only got 1-2hours a day to play sometimes none haha. Heard Classic takes your time greatly.

Transitioning aren’t easy for many. I hop through mmo games all the time. When WoW is sucking I play GW2, ESO or FF14 really depends what gameplay is delectable at the hour if you catch my drift.
