I bought Nintendo games back in the 80s for $49.99. It took 30 years before prices caught up. Some may say we were overcharged back in those days.

But yeah those hikes and then no proactive follow up is to be expected by big corp though a shame since it feels kinda slimey.
If Blizzard got any slimier, they’d be a:

The prices that are currently available and no more.
IDC what arm chair QB’s think about the sub price, they do not have the metrics and do not work for Microsoft.
IE - it’s all conjecture, and badly at that
Rift was great until it went F2P.
Blizzard should be capable of calculating their operational costs and the market value of their product, and adjusting (or not adjusting) sub prices as needed. They don’t need their clients to figure it out for them.
I would be ok not knowing that fact but thanks , lol.
You’re welcome! And remember, all cursed knowledge is free, no refunds!
i would say that the price is expensive compared to other streaming services . i wouldn’t mind seeing sales to yearly $5.99 like disney plus on thanksgiving for example. the rest of the talk is pointless because they have so many ways to monetize , game store , services , early access , pre sales higher price, expansions etc
I’d quit if they did. Its one thing to watch the game’s quality sink lower and lower into the toilet each patch. If they try to jack the price up at the same time I’m out.
If it meant an increase in quality and helping the team out I’d gladly pay more. But if it’s just to enrich shareholders I wouldn’t like that
If Blizzard announced that the sub was going up to $25 or w/e a month, the forums would become a mushroom cloud and I suspect as a community we would then decide where we were going next.
Y’all can come to my house, I’ll prolly run out of snacks real quick but everyone is welcome.

25 bucks per account wouldn’t make me cry.
Inflation happens
I think they’d have to polish the game up considerably to even consider a price hike, and currently that doesn’t seem to be part of their plan.
What’s that old saying? Polish… something, it’s still something…?
I do kinda wonder how many would still stick around out of pure obsession, despite being upset about the price. I do give them credit, the price plateau is admirable, especially considering things like Netflix which I had it when it was $10 a month, now it’s near triple that.
In my WoW 2 idea, it’d be free to play horizontally, like Guild Wars 2. With a store, as well as a DLC subscription for immediate access to high-end content and prestige levels granting 0.X% stacking buffs… I’d say $5-10 would feel and be more sustainable long-term… Of course, that is all considering the servers would be able to handle all the players.
Wolfy, first you want WoW to be f2p and now you want Blizzard to raise the subscription fee. What the fudge is wrong with you?
I wonder what the inflation index is for your average schedule 1 controlled substance?
WoW is quite a bargain, by some metrics.
This is what drives me absolutely insane. The game is basically already freemium with all the cash shop content and ludicrously priced player services.
Although with those tokens, we will never see the sub drop. It’s a built in way to purchase gold that relies on people’s need to subscribe.
Tbh there’s a private server I saw that had a cash shop but let players list items from it on the auction house, so effectively you could buy gold by selling cash shop items, and you could get cash shop items with gold. It worked pretty well for their purposes but obviously pservers don’t have the development costs a real game does.
