Wow Subscription Price; Increase Or Decrease?

Wow released in 2004 with a subscription price of $15.00 per month.

It’s been that price for over 20 years.

Some people say that the game can’t continue to survive at that subscription price, and that the price needs to be increased. Others say that the price should be reduced because the game is too old to warrant it’s present price and in light of the many free to play games out now.

As a Wow player, what are you willing to pay? Should Blizzard raise the price of the monthly subscription? Or do you think the price should be reduced?

If you want to pay them more, buy a token.

Are people so tech illiterate they think hosting the servers isn’t a fraction of the cost it used to be?

Thing is OP, everything is subscription models, it is getting ridiculous.

I am in Canada so my price ends up being a little more and you have to weigh if it is worth it.

Thankfully for now I’ve had great luck with gold making so that won’t affect me.

But I think it’s cool that they kept the same price in the USA for so many years.

It’s why I’m ok seeing them try stuff on the cash shop. It’s a business afterall.

I play the game so little/have so little fun in its current state, that I think they should charge less until rotations, legendaries, story, etc., are as good as they were during BFA, Legion, or even Shadowlands (minus Sylvanas’ arc, The Jailer, Women Talking Craft for three plus expansions now, etc.). If the game were to somehow be better than Legion though? I’d INSTANTLY pay more. I’d even look for ways to donate. I miss BFA/Legion so much it’s not even funny.

I think the way Blizzard has arranged their pricing now is pretty smart and should be left alone.

If Blizzard needs to get more money for whatever costs, they should think about moving out of CA.

The taxes alone are enough to break a company.

With the fully fledged in-game cash shop functioning better than half the game and being more appealing than half the game nowadays, they shouldn’t even charge a sub fee.

Why should we as a player base increase an already premium subscription model even more, as we still pay for expansion after expansion, store items, and $75 house decoration and mounts for what??? Better seasonal content that we play in less than a month??

If you want it increased youre a troll or love throwing away your cash for shrinkflation. Giving them more in subs will not make them make the game better. We see this clearly.

How about be happy its not changed and leave it be? Go buy a token or housing crap in the cash shop if you want to throw money at them. They make plenty of extra using FTP model with a sub. We pay subs, expansions, cash shops, merch.

They are a glutton and we don’t even get a premium product that flippin works.

Where are you ppl coming from? (I can literally see the bnet logo next to this post)

No, wow sub is far from the same it used to be.

They increased Australia’s price when our dollar was worse but since no sane company would reduce it afterwards we’re now paying more than $15usd. Those tricksy hobbits.

Brazil also got price hiked by 40% so we lost our favourite forum warlock again.

The subscription price would have gone up years ago however the in game shop was introduced and that prevented that from needing to happen. It’s literally one of the major reasons why they came out with it

So when you think about why Subs haven’t gone up remember the in game shop also remember that next time you bash the in-game shop

I would rather have an in-game shop with optional items over my subscription fee forcibly being increased

I would pay the double subscription price when I get a Service Level Agreement for direct Technical Support responses (no AI) from Blizzard within 24h.

With how heavy they push the store, it should be free to play/pay once for each new expansion, just like all other games that hard push their in game stores. In fact, I would probably actually pay more than I currently do (I only buy sub/the new expansion currently. Anything else I want from the store I farm the gold for). However, because the game has a sub cost, I absolutely refuse to pay anymore and see the in game store as a rip off. That is content that was cut to milk their consumers.

However, I have no issue supporting companies that are either buy once to play/free to play. I don’t even want to talk about how much I spent on league back when I used to play it

If they ever increased the sub price though, I would quit. The game isn’t worth the current cost, but I accept it because of friends that play this.

a lot of world economies are being squeezed right now, a 33% increase in america ($5) or europe would probably lead to a mass exodus

i know i personally wouldnt keep playing for $20 a month

-waking up in a cold sweat-

”Does poor 20 billion dollar indie company Blizzard need more money from me?”

Quality and priorites have gone bad, so the price should decease imo.

I think the current price I just fine, but really don’t care because I haven’t paid real money for 10 years. If the token went away I’d be gone though. :hear_no_evil_monkey::see_no_evil_monkey::speak_no_evil_monkey:

I prefer subscription models over the all the garbage that comes with F2P. Yes, a little bit of that garbage has made its way into the game despite still having the sub cost, but its nowhere near as egregious as an actual F2P game.

$15 is fine, especially when factoring in all the token and cash shop sales.

I’m convinced these posters are blizzard spies pretending to be players. These sub price hike posts seem to be popping up regularly. I believe this because it’s probably one of the top 10 stupidest suggestions I’ve seen on these forums in 20+ years.
