WOW stops responding for 1-5 seconds

Unsure why this is happening , just started playing again yesterday and even on low settings while jumping around in cities and opening the “c” menu wow will stop responding , Windows 10 will have the screen pop up that says wow is not responding , then in 1-5 seconds it will become responsive again.

I have a NVIDIA GTX 760
Intel i5 (older)
And a 500gb HD
32gb Ram

I was wondering if maybe I needed to update my cpu/hard drive? What is the cause of wow to stop responding randomly

Same here. They won’t even consider it might be on their end. 1st thing they want is a Dxdiag for OUR systems.

Your systems were so far below the minimum that WoW shouldn’t have run, tbh. Please don’t derail the conversation when you don’t have anything to add.

Hi Shaftz

We like to start these troubleshoots with a DXDiag system report. Go ahead and create one for us.

The second section of page has DXDiag report instructions - we don’t require the MSinfo report.

That will be a wall of text. If you have issues pasting on the Forum here go ahead and put it up on pastebin.com. Provide the link code portion of the URL - example below.

(The green bold portion at the end of this example link: https://pastebin.com/**Qk28Ed1P** <=== this code)

Alternately you can place the link in a Preformatted Text box. Paste the link in the chatbox - then highlight it. Click the preformatted text button along the top of the chatbox - looks like this </>

Will look like this example afterwards:

I have since upgraded the RAM and added an SSD. I agree my system is at the lower end of requirements, but I do indeed have something to add, when the time comes and I feel like sharing. But I spoke the truth in the previous post.

10 second random lockups here too, sound cuts out just before the lockup, mouse still moves but screen is frozen. Closed wow and windows had changed my sound driver to another output device (from speakers to integrated monitor speakers - didnt even know my monitor had that).

dxdiag pastebin link: ugnAJD4h

The very first windows error reporting entry lists Wow.exe as having a problem and it appears to be having some interaction with D3D dll

The live kernel events are typically related to a graphics driver that had gotten corrupted. Yours is also 6 months old. Try a clean install of the nvidia drivers using ddu.

Hi Mythicor

As Zungar points out you have graphics issues. The entire Windows error list looks like graphics. I would uninstall using the DDU tool. Install the most recent Nvidia has.

https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2608

Basically you extract the uninstaller from the download. (it will extract to a folder called DDU)

*Important: Unplug the Ethernet or disable the Wifi to avoid Windows automatic driver installation.

I like to boot the computer into safe mode then run the DDU tool. (This isn’t essential and you will need to confirm you have the windows password before you do so. If you are using a PIN it will ask for the actual password after running safe mode.)

On the tool you select Graphics type then Nvidia. Run the recommended “Clean then restart”.

(If AMD graphics were installed at one time you would want to run the tool again - set it to AMD then clean those remnants out)

Now for the install. Start the driver download. Select Graphics only (no GeForce Experience). Select Custom install carry on to the next pane. There is a box to check for Clean Install select (check) that box. (Resets the Nvidia control panel and profiles to defaults)

You will see a Windows Smart Screen warning when you start the Driver install as you are offline - ignore that.

Hi again!, just played for over an hour today and no troubles yet, im tentatively declaring the problem solved  Thanks all for the help.

Thanks for reporting back Mythicor. I won’t call it fixed until you get a good evening of playing in.

my Entire PC just restarted

post your dxdiag like tratt suggested above so people can maybe try to help

Okay, going to do that in an hour or so… stay tuned

Played for a few hours, still all good!

Edit: just fyi, did an internet speed test on my broadband in australia and its slower than in Haiti, sorry, this is the national broadband network that the 2 major political parties were telling us was gonna be amazeballs. i know, irrelevant but funny still.

Still having the crashes and freezes randomly

Still lots of Live Kernel events related to the graphics drivers.

Zungar, what is the solution for this?

Hi Shaftz

Windows is reporting a good number of graphics issues as Zungar pointed out. First let’s reinstall the Nvidia using the DDU tool. I posted instructions above in the thread. Download this driver from Nvidia - then follow those instructions.

When the new driver is all nicely installed test DirectX 12 - DirectX 11 and DirectX 11 Legacy. Those settings are found on the Menu > System > Advanced pane.
