WoW sent me to a fake blizzard site after downloading Overwolf

Oh and this lovely tidbit

Off there Twitter

Ads will be muted videos or static banners. The ad unit is exactly what you can see today in the app. On our end we invest a lot of effort to make sure ads served are legit, and that ads remain unintrusive

If I don’t see the window on my screen, that means it’s gone right?

You’re legit delusional.

^ you mention twitch.

You mention the website, for manual downloads.

Maybe read the words I am saying.

IT IS NOT THE SAME AS THE TWITCH APP

And a lot of addon developers are going to github to bypass this

First one, that was SECOND POST not the first you have been whining about for the last 10 minutes. And updating from the Cursed Forge updater or Twitch will be exactly the same as most people won’t be looking at their task manager to see the Overwolf client running as well. A client that is closed the second you close the Cursed Forage updater.

Look I am done with your tin foil hat wearing butt. It is clear you have a beef with Overwolf and I honestly don’t care. The service seems fine right now but I am willing to admit that we haven’t see their ads service enabled yet.

I’m sorry you are incapable of reading what people write.

So it’s not the same. Just because people don’t “notice it” doesn’t make it the same lmao.

That is fine, for most people that will be too difficult an option but I am sure someone will make an updater for it. The question is will enough of the big developers follow suit. As they are the ones that are really the deal breaker.

There’s a 4 letter word that can describe this mentality. Starts with an S, rhymes with limp.

Yep I have made one for my linux desktop

He literally just said its okay that it runs external programs in the background because most people wont notice anyways

God bless you windows folks…why I enjoy linux

To be fair he’s probably right. Most people probably won’t notice. Most people also don’t know what a vpn is and brows the internet without an antivirus.

big brain logic right there.

No as you pointed out, when you launch the Cursed Forge all it TELLS YOU “Launching app on Overwofl”. What I was pointing out is that they won’t any difference between the Twitch Launcher and Cursed Forge other than the ad feed, that goes away when you close the updater.

That doesn’t make it okay…

I’m not saying it is. I think of it as a sort of natural selection. Only, a modern day version of that.

The ad feed, and that it opens a separate external program that tracks your data. Which makes it different than the twitch app. Which is what I said.

Is it soup it has to be soup

Do you have any information on this “data collection”? That I would be interested in seeing.

Google is collecting your data as we speak. This is not new. Of course Overwolf is going to collect data.

Furthermore, I find it incredible that you have so much confidence in Overwolf when the internet is quite literally telling you that using it is a bad idea.
