Do Wow Players want Auto-Battle Mode Game-play?

What I have read in the forum about players wanting easier game-play is disturbing. Classic was more difficult in the sense that over the 20 years of Wow’s existence players demanded and received many quality of life improvements. The Devs in an effort to improve upon this keep adding even more quality of life improvements satisfying the players calls for an easier game.

But even with the multitude of improvements the Devs have made. Many players keep demanding easier game-play. Many players don’t do world quests anymore, instead they resort to running Dungeon Finder groups in order to level up. And many players don’t even bother doing that. They instead just buy a $60.00 level boost to bypass the leveling grind.

Some players apparently have been influenced by the Mobile games industry to the point that they want World of Warcraft to become like a Mobile game, a Idle game in which for all intents the game plays itself. Create characters, equip them, then just let them Auto-Battle through dungeons endlessly while the player sleeps.

Is that where Wow is headed? Turning from an RPG to an Idle / Auto-Battle game? Is that really what players want these days?

Not this one, buttons don’t scare me and I’m pretty good at mashing them.

We have no source for this. Only Blizz has those metrics.

Same as above. And this doesn’t bypass leveling, as boosts don’t go to 80. So there’s still current expansion leveling to be done in some way. But I see nothing wrong with multiple ways to level.

Do you have some examples of the types of things people are asking for that align with this theory?

Doubtful, since I haven’t seen any signs of this anywhere. They even had us go back out into the world with no summoning or summon stones for Delves. Which is great.

One trash pack in a keystone dungeon has more mechanics than the entirety of a vanilla raid.

Classic you press shadow bolt or auto then alt tab.

The players yearn for the garrison mission table again

“Too soon Executivés, you have released this feature too soon”

I wouldn’t be opposed to logging in and collecting 5-10k per char every day.

Its a decent troll post. Hits all the big bullet points. Confuses tedium with interesting gameplay… I can see it taking off.

Should’ve said bring mage tower rewards back :dracthyr_nod: And proving grounds

I really doubt retail will become auto battle.

They have plenty of other games they can do that with.

So what if others want to pay for a level boost. It’s their money, their choice.

No one has been influenced over it possibly becoming that, more than likely it’s a few off shooters that are asking for it.

I mean… mage tower rewards are silly. They brought back the content its there and its harder then it was on the last patch of legion. There is a real argument to be had that trying desperately to appeal to a fear of missing out is the only reason they are not back.

As for proving grounds…dont they still exist?

My only gripe with mage tower rewards was that there was no indication that I’d be able to use artifact appearances from other specs so I straight up just didn’t do several of them on the basis that “I do not play this spec so why would I get that.”

IE: would love to have the disc priest staff appearance, but I only played holy and shadow at the time so I didn’t see the point in getting it.

Creating walls of hyperbolic text is guaranteed to get reactions.

Never fails. :joy:

Unlike the folks who prefer being polite and passively questioning your judgement, I’m here for actual commentary:

Yeah, this new generation of gamers are a society of instant gratification gamers who need everything five minutes ago, and would pay cash for it. Myself included. Most of what we had 20 years ago were players with free time. We could waste 4 hours farming shards just so our Warlock was not useless in MC or AQ. We walked for 40 levels and praised the heavens just to get to 60 for a slightly faster ground mount. Times have changed.

With that said, I personally am interested in QoL changes and better content. I loved Cataclysm because the world was finally different and questing from low level took on new meaning. You feel the difference with the change in times. Sadly, aside from “Chromie Time”, the world is still the same.

What I really want is a time jump, maybe in 14.0 after we wrap up this Saga. 10 years into the future. Things have been quiet since the defeat of Xal’atath and the other Titans. The world has evolved. Shaman, Druids, and Mages have worked tirelessly to terraform zones into something less fiery and more natural. Small towns are now bigger, unfinished towns are complete, and destroyed towns like South Shore have been rebuilt. Every zone gets all new quests similar to what we had before in this reversal of the Cataclysm.

I want Gilneas, Mechagon City, and other unused places to feel alive with NPCs, banks, flight paths, Auction Houses, and more. Booty Bay needs to expand and grow to feel more like Boralus and less like Tortuga covered in seaweed. So when you say something absolutely ridiculous like

Wow Players want Auto-Battle Mode Game-play

I have to wonder what even goes through your head other than “how can I troll chat today with another clickbait thread for my own amusement”. It’s a fan site. It’s an open forum. Sadly, it is not more heavily moderated to lock up stuff like this just to make a point that you are making a provocative topic, with zero data, being a known troll and it is one of the more baseless assumptive threads in General Discussion and that is saying a lot.

Im playing it currently along side retail.

Its not difficult. Its tedious.
Its something nice to do at the end of the night because you know you have a 20 minute run and super basic combat.

That being said. What exactly do you define as difficult in classic?

The purpose of this thread is to simply create a topic for discussion. I sincerely hope people can enjoy expressing their opinions and hearing other peoples opinions.

Well this is already happening. we have follower dungeons. You can command the npc followers to go forward and just follow them while they fight on their own. All that’s needed now is to put your character on automated and sit there watching them all fight their way through the dungeon. We are very close to an idle game. lol.

Say what now?

no i dont want to play world of raid shadow legends.
also.
