WoW needs more red heads.

Did you really have to necro a 3 year old thread to post more hate on it?

How do you know diversity is forced? What I have found that if it is anything other than the plain vanilla “standard” they know it is forced.

Female instead of male character = forced
Anything other than a white character = forced
Anything other than the standard binary = forced
Anything other than straight = forced

Then those characters have to be super well written with a complex backstory explaining why they exist in the first place. Bog standard character can just fall out of the sky poorly written no backstory and everything is good with them. This is what I find hyocritical.

Then why don’t they add a lore character based on Valentina Gomez? That represents the silent majority in this country, particularly of the working class.

Why do adults care about who’s sleeping with who and what genitals an NPC has in a game rated T for teens? That’s the bigger issue.

Holy necro. Gaming > Activism/politics. <3

The topic of diversity in western media is currently a subject of intense debate. Forced diversity is ruining western media. We are finding out that some of these diversity companies are trying to extort gaming companies. Publications like IGN and Kotaku are mentioned in these discussions. Additionally, there is talk about major investment firms like Vanguard and Blackrock and their role in media investments. These complex issues are widely acknowledged, yet the motivations behind them remain unclear.

Just make good games imo.

Be yourself and be happy

This is the only situation in which I’d ever confidently claim “forced diversity”:

An established character in lore is fundamentally changed to suit a diversity element for no sake other than to suit a diversity element.

Beyond that extremely niche situation (and one I don’t think applies to any in-game character), I genuinely believe people willfully conflate “forced diversity” and “diversity”.

Also, I’ve never understood what the problem is. People will go on an uproar because two NPC’s talk about how much they love each other in Valdrakken. I’m not really an RP’er, and I don’t really look for meaning in video games, so I don’t really care about the NPC’s. But it makes a lot of other people happy, so what’s the problem? Zero impact on my gameplay, I don’t even remember their names, but they seem happy and that jives with me just fine.

WoW is full of racist and stupid characters that the players tend to kill off.

Speaking as a trans person myself,
I personally don’t care about being represented. I just want a good game.
