How to fix the wow economy
remove tokens
blizzard actually cracks down on people selling boosts for money
Make professions worth while again.
The problem solves itself.

The WoW economy is working great. Nothing needs to be fixed. Also, Blizzard supports boosting so if that is what you are worried about that is the real issue you need to address.

You are just trying to slap on a bad band aid that won’t fix the problem anyway.

Sit in Trade chat spamming “WTS X” doesn’t sound like that great of an idea to me. And that’s what would happen if you would essentially make the Auction House useless by taking gold out as a medium. What would you buy your legendary with? What could you possible have for trade that would be worth 200,000 gold?

As someone who played back in the day, no it would not, here is why.

"Hey wanna buy a mythic raid run? ok, i put a gray item on the AH for 1,000,000,534G 22S 54C. Buy that and when we get the gold we will run you. "

"Hey can i borrow 50 gold? " “Sure put something up on the ah for 50g 59s 22c and ill buy it.”
Its literally just going to result in trading gold, but with extra steps.

gold sales account for a large chunk of their revenue nowadays

that ain’t going backwards anytime

we’re just hoping for systems that aren’t directly in service of the cash shop metrics, i.e. be nice to have systems focused on fun rather than our tolerance for tedium and boredom

You ever heard of the word “Suggestions” This is what this thread is about, I’m not trying to dictate how the game should be, It’s vague ideas to be worked on as a direction I think the game should go.

I’d really like to see a boost done to crafting. It seems like some professions should be combined (Like inscription and enchanting. Basically the same thing)

I do herbalism and make a few hundred gold a day from that but its nothing compared to what people charge for things on auction house.

Flasks for example- 600gold each (average price) for spectral power flask which only lasts 2 hours. I’d have to be gathering full time to pay for these.

I honestly thought it was the only method. I can’t think of a good reason to trade gold for carry. At least not indefinitely.

But real money? There’s a good incentive to do it indefinitely.

It doesn’t matter what the currency is, the currency isn’t the problem.

Specifically, if you can buy gold with a token, and then use gold to buy the $currency, then $money == gold == $currency, even if it has a flexible exchange rate.

In D2 the currency was the Stone of Jordan. People had hundreds of these things. People sold SoJ for real money, along with gear for real money (which could, of course, be traded for SoJ).

The problem isn’t the currency involved, it’s the behavior around the currency.

If folks can readily convert real money in to the game currency, then the cat’s out of the bag.

As long as the currency is tradable, people will find ways of trading it for real money.

WoW has for several years strived to make Gold more and more worthless, its gets more worthless every day. Which is why we have to grind rep, renown, quest completion, exploration, “research”, anima, badges, etc. etc. for “gear” (which, fundamentally, is all anyone “wants”). Not gold. Save for a random BoE or a weak piece of gear, gold can not buy you power in this game. It can buy you a carry, but thats different.

This is why professions “suck”, because what PLAYERS want is Gear for Gold. The reason they want Flying for gold is because gold is free. Gold no longer represents “work in the game”, like it did back in Vanilla and BC.

So, that’s why we have all of these other bar filling currency systems in lieu of gold. This is why gold flows like water in SL.

Gold isn’t the problem, it’s what people are doing with it.

LMFAO never boosted a character and i’ve been playing this game since vanilla. You ever heard of the phrase “common sense”? You clearly don’t possess any and resort to insults when someone calls you out with logic. Thanks for the laugh though. This stuff is comedy gold.
