Players can still trade between each other all they want now so why would blizz do anything different. I enchant my guildies stuff all the time for either free or the mats no gold ever changes toons. You are literally creating a problem for one that doesn’t exist. Gold is easier to obtain and relative to its ease also easier to keep since by inflation most items are percentage wise cheaper now than they have ever been in wows history. I can still remember in vanilla getting epic riding and that wiping out my gold and then I had to do it again in BC to get flying it’s never good to be so broke you can’t afford the mats to play your class or even really repair like it was in the olden days of wow.

Let’s hope they don’t bring this to the Classic fresh servers or as other call it Classic+.

I don’t think you understand the word “economy”.

Care to explain yourself?

I think you know exactly what Im talking about.

There’s a reason that the barter system hasn’t been in vogue for a couple hundred years.

It’s just not as good as using a universal currency.

And people will still boost, they will just use discord/third party sites and pay with pay pal or a credit card to do it. Hell I bet most people a lot of the people boosting are already using that method.

Are you comparing that to a videogame?

Yes and risk getting a ban like the old days. Today gold boost serve as a smoke screen to RMT which probably makes it harder to spot.

Even legit boosters will just do what we had to do back in ye olde days when it was super hard to move gold between servers, and just take rare mounts or pets as payment instead.

But I gotta wonder who OP thinks would use the BMAH or sell tokens when the amount of gold you need to spend in WoW outside the player-driven economy is ridiculously low compared to the amount the game throws at you.

If anything the flaws are only further highlighted by WoW being a video game.

I don’t need to eat, so trading me a couple kilos of potatoes for some boots isn’t going to be a trade I’m interested in.

You are fooling yourself if you think Blizzard is doing anything about it right now. This has been going on for all of SLs and have you heard of a single person being banned? The only way Blizzard could even find out about it would be to take part in them and they are far too lazy to do that.

Yeah, a bartering system is not a step forward. What would I even spend gold on at that point?

Edit: spelling.

You would just get the potatoes you need for raid buffs and go do your dungeons and raid.

If you dont take part in boosting it doesnt sffect you.

If I just do my dungeons and raids, how would I convince someone to give me the potatoes I need for those buffs?

I’m pretty sure removing the WoW economy does affect me.

The wow token is basically RMT boosts.

How can some of you be blind to the problem gold brings in this game? It has no purpose other than to be boosted.

I am not blind to it, I just know that if you remove it something else will just pop up to replace it. If you want to fix the problem, then fix the problem. The problem is boosting, not the methods being used to purchase it.
