I LOATHE this game. I alpha tested it and it really is the most horrific nightmare of a game that I’ve ever played in my gaming lifetime.
Hear hear! It is awful. Doubt it will be a wow killer lawl.
butters!!!
wow will kill wow, or more to the point the devs.
Having said that I am looking at the extremely small amount of info about it closely.
and AIR
You do realize that Amazon has failed to deliver a relevant AAA title to date, right? New World isn’t going to hold a candle to the current market of MMOs, even if you get it for free with your prime subscription.
That said… WoW is doing a great job killing itself. Just let it take its course.
Two words?
Extended maintenance.
The only thing that will kill WoW is WoW. And it’s doing that very well currently.
Heres your two words " Activision Blizzard".

I think its obvious at this point the only thing that will kill WoW is WoW itself.
Thank you for the heads up. I’m watching the trailer and this thought comes to mind “Nothing can be all things to all men”. It looks visually pretty, but pretty without brains very soon loses its appeal.
That said with the backing of Amazon behind it one hopes they have the talent to get it right by release. They certainly have the budget to do so. Which Blizzard clearly lacks, as evidenced by the excrement we’re now wading through that is patch 8.3.
You seem to like to do threads on WoW not being all that great, and there being a ‘‘wow killer’’. If you don’t like the game then why are you still here (nevermind, don’t answer that).
Acti Vision
I don’t think New World is what you think it is.
Literally the only reason it has any hype is because it’s funded by [Amazon, I think?] and we knew nothing about it forever other than a title and small blurb.
That said, the idea of a “WoW Killer” at this stage in WoW’s life is… not exactly appealing tbh.
If there had been an actual WoW Killer back in 2011-2014 when we were getting multiple AAA MMOs every year trying to compete with WoW’s success, it would have meant something and would have meant something even more groundbreaking had emerged.
But none of them managed to do it.
If something does it NOW, it’s not going to be some big fanfare with some big super unique game that everyone NEEDED in their life but just didn’t know it – it’s just going to be… “Oh, well, yeah, that was going to happen eventually”.
It’s not a WoW Killer if it just happens to surpass WoW just because WoW has declined far enough to be in actual competition with typical MMO titles over the last decade.
The appeal of a WoW Killer was that it’d be such a good game that it could rip the title from the King when it was 5-10x bigger than anything else. That appeal doesn’t exist right now, I don’t think.
(but to reiterate, I don’t think New World is what you think it is. It’s not going to kill WoW, or FFXIV, or anything else. It’s going to be its own thing and honestly will probably not appeal to a lot of the folks playing these games)
If you don’t want an answer then don’t ask the question. My guess is that the OP is feeling frustrated by a company that not only seems incapable of listening to its players, but is also arrogant enough to push the developers’ “vision” as more important than its players’ desires.
Looks like a interesting game tbh. Amazon gaming studios? Had to happen sooner, or later I guess lol.
Intentionally wrote that … I kinda know what the answer is going to be and I wasn’t wrong. I doubt it’s frustration. Making threads about wow killers and just threads on it’s popularity with little context feels like they just want to stir the pot a little. Quite common here.
Dev team…
