WOW is very casual/beginner unfriendly compared to FF14 IMO

The story isn’t grand by any means. HW and SHB were the best ones.
The newest expansion you have more people kinda like “eh” than praising it.
SHB was kinda hard to pass up, story wise. That was tailored nicely.

As much crap as WoW has done to it’s characters, I still strongly prefer this games characters than XIV’s . They have have very strong plot armor, boring personalities and try to win over fans by pressing a Cat man who was actually a good, strong leader in the previous expansion into “uwu, senpai notice me” and an elf 16 year old Tsundere fawning over your character and it’s annoying. The whole friendship is magic is tiresome too.

I have played XIV since 2.0 Beta and only WoW at the end of BfA in 2020.
WoW > XIV. I’m a rare one but yea. I just wish I played WoW when it started.

You’re genuinely asking me why a video game company tries to innovate with their flagship title?

Tales games, DQ, and Persona are just a few examples of series that haven’t changed their core loops much over time.

Because it’s a much newer game with a different community. It was released in 2013. People are begging for people to play it.

We’ve all seen those every once in a while. But it isn’t commonplace. In the many many years since LFD was introduced, I’ve seen probably a dozen or so kicks for dumb stuff and a bunch of kicks for legitimate stuff— and I pugged stuff a lot.

Then talk to your fellow players. I always remind people who try to be toxic in dungeons that they’re the reason we don’t have more tanks queueing and they’re why I don’t pug tank. Give them something to think about.

But there’s no system I can think of that Blizz could put in place that wouldn’t get abused by this community.

I’m so glad Wow is different than EQ II, Or Final Fantasy, Or New World.

If it was the same, WHY have different games?

I bought 1mo sub about 2 weeks ago just for the heck of it, to see what has changed (been away for about a year.) I rolled on a new low pop server, and almost every group finder group I have been in has vote kicked someone (not me luckily.) I’d say, probably 4 out of 5 groups kicked someone. The reason most of the time is “player is a DB.”

Sure, it’s anecdotal, but it’s what I’ve seen after coming back.

I would prefer log in, do content I enjoy with a currency system and progress towards loot that will be good for me.

Rather than log in, do content I feel forced to do because that’s where my stuff my stuff drops from, get no drops. Get disappointed in run 10 and still no loot. Play a different game.

So it’s not that people want loot thrown at them. They want acquisition of loot to feel better.

Side-note: That looks sick. Open world Souls is pretty dang cool and probably the direction they should have gone much earlier.

I only played Demons Souls and wrote off the rest of the franchise because I wasn’t a big fan of the linear level design and overall sense of the game feeling like it was trying to annoy you, but the core combat is solid (not fantastic like some people pretend, but solid) and the art-style is great.

Which is weird, because as soon as you try it and say you didn’t like it, they flip their lid, like they can’t fathom that someone actually just doesn’t like the game. The insults start flying if you suggest FFXIV is not good instead of accepting that maybe FFXIV could do certain things better if it wanted to appeal to a wider audience.

I’ve heard good and bad about ShB. Cat boy stuff and all that.

Personally, I feel much more connected to WoW’s characters from gameplay alone. But… since my FFXIV endeavor I’ve been reading all of the quests/watching the cutscenes.

The quests are fine. The cutscenes in Shadowlands are a joke. I wish I could unsee them.

FFXIV’s characters are annoying as heck. Two elven kids written as expert politicians. A cat girl who’s flawless. A frustrating ye’ old English stereotype. And a cat boy who is exactly as you said.

Thancred is the only saving grace for me. He fits the comedy nonchalant anime stereotype and I can vibe with that. Estenien is cool as well, but not as cool as Thancred.

WoW when it started was a beast. There was no story, just things to do and people to meet.

Final fantasy is 12 years old. Sure, it doesn’t tower over WoW’s 18, but its not new either.

I respectfully disagree. First of all, new players are kinda rare in most dungeons. And I recall you mentioning you haven’t mentored, so unless you are checking every player’s achievements you won’t notice, but they’re targets to be kicked almost without fail. The game just has nuance that new players aren’t aware of that veteran players simply have no patience for.

I can and I do. But there’s only so much a lone person can do. If the stories of FF being friendleir are true, then we need to change it up.

Soulsborne games are not JPRGs, unless you’re defining JRPG as made by Japanese developers. JRPGs have a unique preference for grinding as majority mechanic which Soulsborne games lack. MHW or MHR are closer to JRPG definition.

Side note, I am PUMPED for Elden Ring.

That’s literally what JRPGs are lol.

I didn’t say new. I said newer. There’s a difference.

Why do I need to check achievements? And I’ve been in a lot of dungeons with new players who never got kicked.

I’ll refer back to what I said that you skipped over:

uhh…

wut

Having trouble reading?

I’m having trouble understanding how you don’t understand that words and phrases evolve in meaning and a collection of words or an acronym may not mean what the sum of the independent parts means.

JRPG implies certain things. In the same way we don’t call Call of Duty an RPG just because you play a role of a character (role playing game).

Eh? JRPGs are literally RPGs made in Japan.

So any video game made in Japan that isn’t a sim game is a JRPG?

I don’t know, is every game made in Japan not a sim game an RPG?

You tell me. You’re the one suggesting all words are to be interpreted literally. If we interpret JRPG as J + RPG, it stands to reason that J + RP+ G should be the same as well.

No, you tell me. You asked so clearly you should know. I mean since you haven’t even described what a JRPG is yourself…

I don’t like FFXIV at all but I do think they make gearing a lot easier for players to get ready for endgame content if they choose. There’s quite a few QOL stuff in FFXIV I wish they would start doing in WOW. I just hate the combat systems, the forced story content, and lalafells are super creepy.
