WoW is the definition of p2w

Well they have a 16 year track record of not enforcing that.

Same with older games. I had friends in high school buying platinum in EQ.

Great post. Getting destroyed by someone in full 226 who is significantly better than you who’s carrying someone else isn’t fun. I don’t know the solutions here either, but I feel that at least making the best gear obtainable through grinding and not simply rating would at least help. I’m not sure, however.

From what I can tell, this problem really picked up back when they removed you having to be on specific arena teams. But maybe someone with more knowledge will correct me.

So the definition for you of pay to win is using in game currency to get carries, regardless of the source of that in game currency? If that’s your belief, I disagree with it but so long as you’re consistent.

They offer a pathway because shady websites would do it if they didn’t. And used to.

Wrong. It facilitates a way to skip into better gear that’s obsolete in a patch.

Pretty much. It’s all over classic.

yes that is what the words pay to win mean. paying money/currency for an arena win is p2w

pretty simple

Pay to win doesn’t apply to WoW. Getting the best gear handed to you is like buying a $600 driver. You won’t hit the ball any straighter if you don’t know how to swing it.

Cool, so the game has been pay to win from day one. Not sure why this thread needs to exist!

Even these forums are pay to win! Heck, you can pay someone to complain about WoW for you while you do something else!

Everyone is suspect! Everything can be paid for!

They also refuse to take action on selling carriers. Blizzard is 100% complicit with the p2w, because token sales are mad profitable.

The rating system for PVP gearing is terrible. With some money you can buy your gold and get carried to the top.

yes it has, its really simple

Like I said, so long as we’re consistent, then I don’t know why this thread exists. Every game is P2W so there’s no need to fight or argue over it.

I play for pvp and i do think its an issue. Its not just the carries but the whole gearing system that makes it a problem

you can pay for wins and then use that gear in Randoms against people who dont pay.

definitions change over time.

I’m looking forward to Wrath classic when the same things come up there because all armor and weapons have rating requirements as well (accessories don’t).

Okay, so if we focus more on PvP, then I can respect and understand that frustration. But I would amend the OP by saying “WoW PvP is P2W” because that’s where is more true.

well the OP never actually implied pve or pvp. everyone assumed pve and said “you cant win wow!!!”

you can though in pvp, every match has a winner and loser and you can pay for them

I has multi-dollars…can i buy blizz?
