WoW is the definition of p2w

Pay money for gold > pay gold for carry > get gear 0 effort > stomp poor saps playing the game legit or “finally play the game” ? whatever that means.

And this is all allowed & support by Blizzard. The process of gearing must be so awful that SL has pumped seller activity by leaps and magnitudes higher than I’ve ever witnessed in any game. Its like logging into Diablo 2 and seeing all those bot spammers as soon as you create a game.

And we all know a lot of this stuff is shady lets not kid ourselves but now they can get away with it. Blizz turns a blind eye because they profit. Almost like it was planned hmm, keep WoW on maintenance mode and let it all burn? Is that the plan?

Lets just throw a few MMOs that aren’t plagued by this issue. GW2, FF14, ESO.
Multi-dollar company Blizzard has big problems tho.

Go play Star Trek Online or any other Perfect World game and get back to me on how WoW is pay to win. Pay to Barbie? Yes. Pay to win? No…hic!

Pay RL money for gold. Pay gold to get carried and have gear funneled to you in the most difficult content. How is that NOT pay to win?

Again… get back to me when you have loot boxes with tier sets in them and keys in the micro transaction store to open them…hic!

Oh so you have to buy gear directly from Blizzard in order for it to be pay to win… :man_facepalming:

Bad players are bad players no matter what kind of gear they are in. Bad players will still keyboard turn and click their spells, bad players will still stand in bad and not follow mechanics. It’s doubtful that anyone who has done much non-trivial content above random battlegrounds, LFR, and heroic dungeons truly believes this game is p2w.

Yes, of course. It doesn’t matter that the first step involves spending real life cash, and the last step involves getting gear as a direct result of spending real life cash.

P2W is only if you buy something directly from a cash shop.

(I don’t believe this, it’s blatantly obvious it is a P2W feature, and people want to use semantics as the argument as they so often do. I mean, if you don’t want to call it P2W, name it something else, but recognize it for what it is.)

If you can get the best rewards in the game with your wallet, it’s pay to win.

The playerbase has used mental gymnastics to convince themselves this doesn’t count as p2w. Good luck trying to convince people that the sky is blue when their heads are buried in the sand

Because everyone has a different definition of p2w :man_shrugging:

What happens if you just do covenant and story and just enjoy having covenant set?

What best rewards? Deck out a player who clicks, keyboard turns, and can’t follow mechanics in BiS mythic gear and they still won’t be able to clear normal without a carry.

They didn’t win much. lol

Pay to win means paying real money to get the best rewards. That’s the only definition.

WoW is NOT the definition of pay to win. Good lord, I’m so tired of this false equivalency.

Pay to win refers to paying real money for items not obtainable through regular gameplay to have an extreme advantage over other players.

Everything in WoW is obtainable through regular gameplay. You can’t win WoW. Pay to skip some stuff? Fine. Pay to win? Absolutely not.
