If wow is pay to win how much money did the world’s first guilds drop to compete with one another?
Don’t attempt to argue linguistics over a CURRENT CONCEPT in the gaming world that you’re wrong about. It just makes you look worse.
So it’s cool if I p2w my face off with pvp, then join your guild and you get benched because your mechanical advantage does not outweigh my ilvl advantage. Bet that feels great.
They bought the market out of BOE’s, where you do think that gold came from …
Definition didn’t change. People’s comprehension of the word changed.
And that’s where we are at now with defining p2w.
pay to win implies that you get to win if you pay money. it says nothing about how or what items are available. its only 3 words.
And that’s the issue of being vague.
Uh…I mean, with how raiding is flex outside of Mythic, sure? We’d welcome another body if you can perform mechanics well?
And PvP gear wouldn’t outdo Mythic gear, and gear is as important as mechanics, so…I’m not really seeing the big deal here? You paying for gear won’t pay for your DPS, and it’ll show.
this^
some people in here think their made up definition for it is somehow a global standard lol
When you have to hit the cope that hard, it’s been a good talk.
I think @Torvald has the best defense of why it might not be P2W. It’s really a judgment call between that and why it might be.
I think as long as the company approves systems to exploit profit from in-game advantage, it should be considered P2W. Does that mean everyone needs to pay? No–I don’t see exclusivity as a requirement. Are all games equal in their exploit of the mechanic? No–some are better than others. From a principled standpoint, P2W sucks, but that doesn’t mean a game sucks just because it has the label (I play a lot of P2W games up until finding the paywalls).
At a higher level, I honestly think about a parallel between academic performance and family wealth, and how should opportunity be afforded in a society. Where does egalitarianism conflict with meritocracy?
Nope. 100% false post. Please learn what P2W means first. Secondly, it shows you have never played other mmos because they ALL do the same thing.
Nice try though and sorry you are too lazy to build up your io score and get in m+ groups.
YAY! Since I need more little pets lol.
how is paying for an arena carry not paying for a win?
Wow. Like I said, you just keep sounding worse every time you post.
The sheer amount of ignorance in refusing to understand how actual written, researched and marketed concepts work is just astounding.
I just… I can’t anymore.
Azerite loot crates obtained with paid carries bought with token gold. There’s an extra step, but definitely paying money to win.
Or RMT carries. Which they can’t seem to block the blatant in game advertising for.
Just look at some of those websites in the group descriptions. Reported for over a year.
Method was exposed buying like $10k of gold? Saw another figure more recently that was $700 per raider for this previous tier.
Your fact is irrelevant. The police don’t decide not to arrest someone who stole a candy bar, just because some people can buy candy bar instead if stealing it. Wth?
Yup, the whole thing is pretty disgusting.
when I tried for R14 in vanilla, I ran into Romanian army officers selling ranks…
people don’t realize these carries are an actual business and the people arguing with you are probably getting paid to do it.
people say it’s not p2w, yet when i log in, i see general/lfg channel is nothing but booster spam worse than any korean grinder i have ever played. you pay RL money and can get the best gear in game then use it to beat ‘scrubs’ in pvp. that IS totally p2w. boosters are in this thread defending this practice b/c they want it to stay this way…and so does blizzard so nothing will happen about it. so gg dudes, gg. they should rename wow, world of whales and be done with it imo.
that’s not a response.
LOL… “I don’t like actual facts so I’m going to call them irrelevant because they contradict what I want!”
