WoW is no longer "worth the grind"

Sorry to say guys, but this is probably it. It’s over. Logging in and seeing my characters leads me to a sense of despair dreading all the crap I have to do. Games shouldn’t be like this. I should be excited and willing to throw my time and money away on a game.

I’ve played this game since it’s early days and this is the first time I’ve felt this (even including the WoD content-drought), whoever breathed the magic into this game is no longer there and it shows. All I see left here is corporate greed and a sub-par product that asks way too much for what it gives.

Luckily, other games still elicit that response. I’ve gotten into Guild Wars 2 recently, and dabbling in FF14, and Destiny 2 with all it’s faults is still there going strong. I can’t say I’m too excited about the two upcoming MMO’s but there’s still that.

It sucks to see the company I loved and grew up with turn into this. Worst of all, I’m sure it’s not the devs fault AT ALL. This all reeks of corporate greed and people who don’t even play the game.

Their greed is palpable and obvious, and it killed the magic of the game. It’s over. I’m done getting milked. First time quitting, and I started in the beta of early vanilla, before anything was a thing.

Later fellow brothers-in-arms. Hope I see some of you in other games.

Take care and have fun out there

I agree. Personally I have switched to ESO as my main game. The story is good and I have a lot of fun in the game.

Not to mention the community is far nicer then WOW’s also.

Looking forward to Blackwood launching on June 1st!

I feel very much the same way.

It’s a pain and a chore now to log in. Sometimes I can barely play even 40 minutes.

My highest guy is only 198 and I hear that isn’t even that high anymore.

I’m looking forward to Amazon’s new game New World in August.

I even started playing fallout 1 again and that is like 25 years old.

There is another mmo out too (it’s still be beta I believe, especially with this pandemic). It’s called Project Gorgon.

If you can get past some of the dated graphics, it has one of the most interesting skill systems ever.

You don’t level per se. You build up your own class and increase skill lines.

As for wow, they changed the lore I feel in ways that upset me. They made it feel like there is no sense for pvp anymore with the new lore added at the end of BFA.

Maybe the horde and alliance are not officially at peace but are in a cease fire so what’s the real difference?

Mythics seem very hard to do (even low level ones).

So, looking forward to New World, playing an oldie classic Fallout 1. Project Gorgon might be interesting to you.

and even Dead by Daylight has a new killer now who is interesting.

Wow when D by D looks better than wow. I don’t know what to say.

And I’m in the 21st galaxy of No Man’s sky. Which over the years since NMS came out the developers have added a-lot of new content.

Whole areas yet to explore in just these first 20+ galaxies.

You can even tame almost any animal you find on any planet and make it into your pet that you can develop with.

Definitely sounds like you’re over it!

Enjoy DbD and Project Gorgon. I like playing DbD sometimes too, though still loving WoW.

Maybe I’ll see you in GW2. I recently started it and it’s refreshing.

I played eso too for a long time.

I might check it out sometime later.

Only thing about eso (despite the fact that this game dramatically improved since it’s launch).

There are a great number of expansions, DLC’s and it has one of the best personal home setups I have ever witnessed. I own three.

It also has some of the best rp guilds I have ever ran across.

With that said, if eso has an end game? It feels too much all over the place and complicated.

There is like…so little to do in comparison to previous expansions lol. Maybe you just need a break.

I’ve been thinking about giving that game a try.

As if WoW isn’t P2W with all the boosting lol

Any game designed around a weekly/daily checklist is going to suck if the list is more than a couple things.

I started doing that in FF14 and it became as boring as it is in WoW. I stopped because it was me who created the checklist and not the game.

There was nothing about his post that was pointless. When you unsubscribe, you’re asked to leave feedback in the forums. It sucks to see another long time player go if you ask me.

See you in 9.1 friend!

I hate when people state their opinion as an overwhelming FACT, that everyone must be going through, because you’re going through it.

If YOU don’t find it worth the grind, then so be it, cut WoW out of your life and find something more, “Worthy” of your time.

Peace.

If it’s any help, running content with friends can help a TON. If you can get a small group of guildies or people from the communities together to do stuff, it makes the game so much more enjoyable, even in the boring grindy content (Like Torgast).

I have no idea what people are even grinding.

This has been one of the least grindy expansions in a long time.

It’s pretty obvious it’s just op’s opinion though. Everything anyone on here posts is a personal opinion whenever it’s something about how good/bad/fun/not fun/grindy/not grindy/hard/easy the game is. Those are all things that can’t be objectively evaluated but only subjectively.

I have also been playing ESO as my main game and having so much more fun. This is the most unmotivated I have ever been to log into WoW.
