Wow, Final Fantasy XIV is better than WoW

FF14 is amazing. But, both games offer different things. WoW is more endgame-based for hardcore raiders, FF is for more casual players with just a bit of difficult content at the end.

It’s far better overall, yeah. The graphics do need an upgrade though.

Shadowbringers is one of the best game stories I’ve experienced in years, not just from an MMO standpoint.

It might sound good but it would be impossible to implement in a game the size of WoW. Housing space would be taken up 1 minute after it became available, there are just too many people playing this game.

Wow, you gave the game a whole 5 minutes huh? Good for you. Bet it took longer to download than it did for you to give up on it.

What’s the point of this thread again?
Some sort of self-vindication?

It’s not bad. I’m only at level 30 on the trial but it’s hard to get into because of some of the design, but it’s fun. Not sure I could fully devote to playing it though. There’s also a lot of systems I don’t quite get like I haven’t bothered with housing (not even sure if I can on the trial) or getting multiple jobs.

I didn’t like the forced dungeons for stories at first but it’s not too bad especially with the level sync and everyone I’ve met has been really nice and helpful when I say that I’m new and haven’t done the dungeon before.

This. That game looks too “cutesy” for me.

I’d play FFXIV if I was allowed on the RP server >(

No it’s not. Nice try though. No matter how bad you think WoW is, everything else is worse.

Yeah them locking servers are strange. I managed to get onto Mateus which is the spillover RP server but the “main” ones I heard are locked.

Ion has actually said they’re looking for a way to implement player housing.

Also, take Aruk’s advice:

Okay now you have my attention

Can you elaborate on this?

Balmung from what I’ve heard has been locked basically forever.

I did notice that FF14 has a way better cash shop than WoW. I mean, it’s really extensive. Makes me wonder why people complain about WoW’s, which is only a fraction of the size.

Part of the problem is the World of Warcraft is really, really small in the grand scheme of things. A housing zone with say 1000 houses would be absolutely massive, it’d be ten times as large as Stormwind, because the WoW capital cities are so small. It’s unfortunate. That doesn’t mean that instanced housing is “better”, just that WoW has put itself into a position where that’s the only option.

It’s funny when you realize Final Fantasy’s most famous game is the one that strayed as far away as it could from anime.

It’s a great game, don’t get me wrong. FF7 is definitely one of my most beloved games of all time, but still. Just not as “anime” as the others.

Which one is that? I don’t know much about the franchise.

ESO’s crown shop is absolutely massive as well. If there was a WoW-style crown shop the forums would be on fire. We just like to complain about everything

Don’t have time to elaborate right now… but what it comes down to is that it feels like WoW has abandoned the aspects of the game I like while FFXIV has embraced them.

WoW feels like a job.
FFXIV feels like an adventure.

So who’s up for an adventure?

  1. It’s the one with the steampunk stuff. Granted, its main character did have a comically big sword with the spiky hair and stuff. It just wasn’t as anime as some of them.
