I don’t think WoW will die over this, but you’re downplaying just how severe of a situation this is for them.
I’m not sure if you’re paying attention to social media, the forums, and even in-game, but the reaction across all of these things is quite dramatic, and has blemished Blizzard’s reputation overnight. This isn’t leaving the social sphere anytime soon, and when it finally does, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Blizzard struggle with returning to the reputation it once had.
So I take it we’re not going to see a 9.3 at this rate?
I think a lot of us were already beginning to suspect that 9.2 would be the final patch even before all this, but that tweet doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence…
I haven’t been happy with the direction of the game since BfA. But I love my guild and the friends I met here. And have had some great memories in this world. But it feels bad knowing that it was created through some horrible suffering for some people.
And I realize that, while yes, the company SHOULD be providing the kind of entertainment people want, right now, my complaints are miniscule compared to the safety (both mental and physical) of the people who still work at Blizzard - the ones who have endured so much, including those who tried standing up for their friends when they were being mistreated by the company.
Right now, I can’t worry about the content. If they don’t develop anything new for awhile, it’s understandable. There are stuff to do for awhile and if not, a ton of games out there (some just little ones) to keep us occupied till there is something new.
I hope this (the lawsuit) can bring some justice to the people who deserve it, peace for those who need it and healing for the company and the people who are still there and (I mean those who are NOT the perpetrators of all this mess).
The majority of players will will forget about it before the case is even settled.
If you’re on the forums and twitter you’re in a social media bubble, you think more people pay attention than actually do.
And it’s industry wide, more and more are going to come to light (we’ve already had Ubi and Riot, Take two has had problems for years, EA is probably worse than all them put together), it’s not just a wow problem, hell the report isn’t even just about wow, it’s about activision blizzard, but its a wow forum so people focus on that here.
Anywho, what i’m getting at is, there needs to be change in the industry (and any male dominated industry), and that can really only be done by pressure from things bigger than the companies themselves.
Which is exactly why I said that more women need to get involved. But the moment you bring that up the “proud toxicity” crowd become triggered and start attacking. I’m really getting sick and tired of their nonsense at this point.
Problem is, how do you do that? You have to take the qualified person regardless of gender IMO.
And some things in the report are just silly, like “ceo and other leadership positions are all white men” well no crap the ceo is a white man, he’s been ceo of activision blizzard the whole time >.>
I’m sick of people saying “there should be more women in X, there’s only 20%!”, gender shouldn’t be even part of the equation, only being qualified for the job.
I don’t want to turn this thread into a toxic gender battle, I just think more women should be involved in the industry and that’s it. Let’s talk about the game please.
Stating that you want more women involved is redundant if there are not more women applying.
It is like trying to say that you want more women involved in the brick-laying business - well no crap, of course you want. But you know what? Many women do not go into the brick-laying business because they do not want to.
We’re paying real money for a product, therefore there is a reasonable expectation that they are giving us something for the money/actually working on the product.
“Taking a break” from working on the product is not ok. If they’re going to do that, then refund sub-time while this “break” happens or lower the price of the product.
Yeah, but the problem with WOW is the only other aspect that gets any kind of attention is PVP and if you ask around, people say PVP is horrible and in the worse place its ever been.
Other games have things like crafting or interesting side quests for weird loot or some other things to do.
This games got like 3 functions:
Raid
Mythic Dungeon
PvP
And once u done the raid, done mythics 100+ times and done enough pvp to realize its cabbage, theres nothing else to do.
Don’t pay attention to these 1000 mount collectors, they obviously are superhumans. Not normal human would play a game for that reason alone.
Don’t get me wrong, this game has alot of cool things, but they were all creating many years ago and once u complete all of that, theres literally nothing else going for it.
