WOW crashing while moving mouse over items

Legacy raid loot sent to my mailbox and while retrieving I was getting “item not found”
Now I have several items in my bags that when I mouse over it crashes the wow.exe client. Removed all add-ons; reset wtf, interface and cache folders; Nvidia drivers up to date. Everything worked fine until patch 11.0 update on July 23.

Edit: now just hovering over some items in AH crashes wow.exe client
But I can login another toon and buy this same item off AH; save appearance to inventory, go back to broken toon and its now in item appearances. It still crashes if I hover over this item in AH.

I’m playing on EU but I’ve got the exact same issue.
I’ve reported this through Customer Support but they told me to write on forums because they can’t fix bugs… (ticket no. EU95389092 for reference)
lol, so I will:

I encounter an ACCESS_VIOLATION crash every time I hover over specific items in my backpack in World of Warcraft. This issue occurs on two different machines with different configurations.
The issue persists across both machines with clean WoW configurations and no running addons.

This issue only started occurring today after the release of prepatch (11.0.0).

Some things I tried:
Deleted folders: WTF, Interface, Cache from the _retail_ folder.
Used Scan & Repair function in Battle.net launcher.
Updated Nvidia drivers on the desktop PC, AMD drivers on the laptop PC.
Reinstalled World of Warcraft from scratch on both the desktop and laptop PCs.
Disabled startup programs.

The two machines are:
Desktop PC - Ryzen 5600X and Nvidia 3060 Ti
Framework 13 - Ryzen 7640u APU
I’ve sent dxdiag to the Customer Support on NA/EU in separate tickets because it contains some private info.

Given that the same error occurs on two different machines with clean installations and updated drivers, this appears to be an issue with the game itself.

I can’t attach links on the forum, so there’ll be nada from that.

Hey, chiming in here since I was looking to see if anyone else was having this.

I was collecting my mail and it was fine up until it started crashing repeatedly. It must be an item I have in the mailbox but I’m not sure which it could be. There’s one item at the top that is trying to load but even opening the mailbox insta-crashes wow now.

Chiming in as well to say I have similar issue with vendors, adventurer guide, etc with specific tooltips of items. This is only a issue with my warlock no other character has these issues. Tried all the usual fixes of repairing the client, deleting cache/WTF folders, disabling/deleting/reinstalling addons, etc.

Same here - happens on ONE toon only out of several toons.

Reliably the game crashes when I hoover over one of same three items. Doesn’t matter how long I have been playing for, or how many times I have been looking at items in the bag. If it’s one of those three the game crashes instantly.

Getting this too, hovering over some items in Erugosa’s inventory.

Update, seem to crash when hovering the “cosmetic” items (the items with the two purple corner icons). I don’t get a crash hovering over her normal food items.

For me it occurs when I hover over items for sale by Archdruid Hamuul Runetotem outside of Camp Antonidas

Still occurring as of this morning.

This is happening to me as well, my bag is currently a minefield of items that will crash the game. Most of them are cosmetics, as I have a already known cosmetic item in my bag I believe all these items are unknown looks.

I’ve collected all threads regarding this issue and created a bug report here:

Been happening to me too.

Update. For my issue a few posts back, I read that if I un-equip my two-handed weapon, then I can now hover over items in vendors that previously crashed WoW.
It does seem to work for my specific issue.

Yep, for some of us it can help.

This fix works for me as well
