Wow community council question

Thats a bit like saying you cant come to the party in that cheap dress, where’s your best outfit?

It doesnt matter what character they are using. Its the player that provides the input.

Part of the forum activity part is that people applied from all sorts of backgrounds and communities. They may be active on their class discord, RP community, guild, small stream, website/guide. Those are their communities and where they were active - and are likely to still be active. Blizzard brought them in partly for their connections to those diverse communities and wants that sort of feedback.

The only forum requirement part is the CC forum.

The reason you see me here a lot is because the forums ARE my community, in that I have been here for 15 years and helping folks with issues for almost 10 of those in green. I am doing what I always did… Although now people take more notice.

I don’t think those who are part of other communities outside the forums are going to change their patterns and really start posting in GD, esp with the reception many got.

I also want to add, the CMs are already tasked with collecting feedback on the forums - so yes, posts are seen, esp big trends. Nobody has to double post it on the CC forums.

Further, people are free to make a thread here on GD to address a CC topic so that you can add your own thoughts to it.

Yeah having someone try to invalidate a post that you’ve tried to make well thought out and sincere with armory gatekeeping blows.

Also, there’s more to the game than endgame… some folks legitimately only level alts for example. So in the name of more fair representation, at least a few people on the council shouldn’t be of the endgame sort.

I read through most of the CC Introductions … wow - 80% endgame 20% pvp, and throw a few RPers in both groups. A few claiming to be casual - you know, the ones that raid 2x a week so they consider themselves “casual.” Sad.

I am guessing you did not read them all. I have not done group content in years. I wait until I can solo it. I have not even used LFD/LFR. I don’t ever PvP if I can avoid it.

There are quite a few who are solo players like me who play because we enjoy other things than just raiding. Several of us have discussed those sorts of issues as well - RP, transmog, pets, mounts, casual content/solo content, accesability features, etc.

The OP would not count me as qualified though because i don’t raid. I am ilvl 251 now, but through solo world content. ZM is very very solo friendly and I love it for that.

Community Council members - they’re just like us! Read about it in Star magazine

The one that stood out to me the most is that one Warlock from ion’s “Elitist Jerks” guild (literally), I’m suuuuure there was no nepotism there :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Wouldn’t surprise me if some of these dudes are just players who are personal friends with the devs or know the devs inside the game

Many of the CC use an alt that they rarely play in order not to receive constant in game mails and annoyances from their fellow players. It is completely fair that their mains remain unidentified so that they can play in peace.

Mmmm… smell that jealousy thick in the air.

I’ve largely been ignoring the community council forum. I went and looked at it today and realized that blizz has created a forum for a chosen few people to have direct feedback to the devs, and the rest of us have none.

It’s really disenheartening to see how much dev interaction goes on there, when none has gone on to the wider community in so long.

There are also people on the council who have a long history of yammering on in threads on topics about which they have NO experience. great, that they get to do that in a palce where their voice is actually heard. I just love knowing that super casual pet battle chick has more of a voice in topics on mythic raiding than mythic raiders.

creating an elite class of player (as far as voice goes) that’s supposed to represent the community, that isn’t voted on by the actual community and has no obligation to represent the interests of the community?

I’m not a fan.

I don’t think that was what the OP was commenting about.

I think what OP was saying is that why are there such trollish personalities on the CC forums providing gaming input.

At least that’s how I took it. It’s a good question because I’ve noticed this with at least one.

I don’t understand why they just don’t send out surveys to the player base about changes. I have seen some tools on the community council, and it seems like its just a status symbol for them.

The level of the posting toon means nothing, it is the content of the post that matters.

If you want to bring the attention of a council member simply link to the post you want to add your thoughts to, they see all posts they are linked to.

When reading the community council forums I do not find trolls at all; however, in GD forums they seem to run rampant.

If this is directed at me, I make it very clear in all of my sepulcher feedback that I’m referring to LFR only.

Believe it or not, mythic isn’t the only raid difficulty.

To my knowledge there isn’t a mythic raiding exclusive topic.

I’ve had some interactions over the years w/ some “council members” who were complete self-righteous, control freaks" and some that were decent and respectful. Humans are interesting in that respect… some always having to try and demonstrate/demand their superiority over others.
In an online fantasy game like WoW, I personally don’t care about or,
want any involvement with people who feel they need to control other peoples game-play behavior.
I also feel, if you read Blizzards, “code of conduct” before you sign your gaming contract that’s all “gaming control” I want to deal with!

To bridge players of diverse areas of interest with the developers in a structured environment.

Many of these selected are probably from EU or somewhere else.

They are people and not employees; they come with strong opinions and sometimes sour behavior. None of us are perfect nor 100% loved by the rest. I’ve made dumb and insensitive remarks, but I’ve apologized and have done my best to improve as a poster.

Still, even the CC is just a tiny sample of the millions that play in one fashion or another

I want to sort of address this. TS/CS gets accused of this from time to time because people are stressed and want help. The person gives them the answer in a quick and efficent way, and moves on. The lack of personal attention can make people feel bad though so they get accused of being rude.

The intent is not rude, it is to impart info or a comment efficiently.

I don’t know which posters you mean though, so won’t discount that you experienced that and if you did that sucks. Please realize that text is a poor medium for intent though.

I get that sentiment in past CS responses. Also, that forum is much more serious and I’ve learned to conduct myself differently there.

GD is more my home because it has a certain tolerance of silly behavior. The CC is more like the CS forum. It’s a place, as I see it, for constructive feedback not destructive nor derivative.

I have been on the council since the first day it was active - the first post in the intro thread is mine. Letholas is my main character.

In 5 months I’ve received 2 whispers and 2 letters regarding my activity on the council. Others may have gotten more/less, but it doesn’t bother me, nor would I call it constant.

This is my main. You can check my armory if you want, and I’m by no means the highest ilvl, raid progression, M+ or PvP rated toon on the CC.
