As long as that information was continuously being presented, a question of is factuality can be made!
One cannot post information then get upset when people ask where it came from.

Why would they say that on the video game forums? Nothing on the video game forums is going to make a difference in peoples lives.
I personally feel all RL/Political threads should be removed from the forums immediately as they have nothing to do with the game. I believe they break the code of conduct.
Its not harassing, your interpretation of them questioning your source material is “Your interpretation”. I have read no trolling here and seen no harassment!
I’d say ignore that individual or make note not to make threads on information you cannot divulge sources too, as this is the result in any topic.
