I had almost the same experience-- except after the 47 minutes it took t get to the character creation screen, I then spent some 25 trying over and over to finish creation-- only to meet “time out” again and again. Then the server went offline.

Guess on my end the whole thing was… stressed out.

It doesn’t support my statement? It’s a blue post from this forum. Read it all and tell me how it relates to no one being able to login apart from streamers and a handful of people.

Hello, i manage to get in character creator but i was stuck in there , it took 20 minutes of disconnect queue to enter in character creation and after this i was stuck there until server went offline, i couldnt enter in game, the error was creation character timed out.
Everytime the error pops i cancelled and tried to create a character again.

Backed out and started fresh, the server is showing ‘locked’ now but stuck in ‘logging in to game server’

Well that was fun! Game of Queues, and Bran the Broken still ended up being king! The closest I got to getting into the game was the character creation screen, which timed out after 15-20 seconds. Yay!

Spent two trying to get in, server goes offline, continue to try and log in. I was about to give up, tried one more time…get the realm list!!! Go to login…Realm is full

I shall not give up!!!

guys, it was a stress test… and their first one, stop expecting it to be perfect, and stop being rude…
just be glad it happened now so they can fix it, rather then at actual vanilla’s release

Because I was never able to get in i’m posting my experience here. I started trying to login at 6pm cst and after waiting in a login queue saw the server offline after about 30~45 of that happening i started to get d/ced on retrieving realm list. 20~30 minutes of retrieving realm list d/c. And i got to character creation consistently got character creation timed out errors for the next 20 minutes, Then got d/ced. From that point on i was able to login and see an offline server until 8pm cst. I hope this helps.

2 hours of beating my head against login queues, random disconnects, failure to create character, overloaded servers.

Thanks for the invite to help stress-test, and the truly authentic Vanilla experience, Blizzard.

That’s exactly what happened to me, but the majority of my time was stuck at the character creation screen with endless “Character creation timed out” errors.

Finally got into the game after 2 hours, can’t create a character now it just says character creation timed out after about 2 minutes
