WoW Classic Launch and Testing Schedule

For me the cash grab is this

I create a main and name all my alts so they are not taken. However, I can’t play them on the server I want as RP-PvP is either coming later or not at all. If and when it does I’ll have to transfer my main and any alts ive used by paying to do so as I’m sure Blizz won’t allow free transfer to a realm I wanted to play on from the beginning.

And now instead of it being a truly massive open world rpg its layers upon layers of nincompoopery

These are my two biggest complaints and I’d be lying if I was to say its not killing my hype

I am so dayum HAPPY!

Keen as a jelly bean! I started my account in TBC and have been subbed for most of the time since then. WTB beta invite plz, lol

No catch up mechanics in Classic WoW. You miss the boat, you stay behind. Awesome type of game to release just as almost everyone is getting busier. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I probably would have pulled the trigger on the $100 CE today – if the disappointment I’m feeling wasn’t so crippling.

I’d be surprised if a noticeable number of posters on this forum don’t end up with invites in the next couple weeks simply from past behavior on these forums. Of course, I also wouldn’t be surprised if a number of posters DON’T end up with beta invites through any kind of “expedited process” from the CM side and end up relying on the RNG selecting them instead. (Inflexible, forum troll, “unreasonable,” etc)

I’d be highly surprised if the CM’s aren’t able to “stack the deck” in favor of certain people getting in any beta test, never mind this one specifically. If they have identified people who demonstrate “desirable traits” for a beta tester, they’re probably going to get those posters short-listed for an invite. (Don’t bother to start trying for that now, it’s probably too late)

I’d suspect there are other things/ways to get “short-listed” as well, apart from the “obvious” three of being “a content creator”(streamer) or a UI/Mod developer for a very popular addon, or a forum MVP as I recall. I suspect it also is possible to be on more than one of those short lists.

wait for beta key

It’s unclear on that specific point. Opt in for selection doesn’t require a subscription. But the write-up says a subscription will be needed in order to participate in the beta.

It can be read either way, the “safe bet” is to have game time on the account. But you may be able to get away with activating the account after being invited, if you do get invited.

In the TBC beta, I recall there was a weird account system synchronization thing that required the account to have been active on a particular date (which was in the past) in order to play. I’d suspect the current setup Blizzard has would simply check to see if the account is currently active.

But going back to where we started: How an accounts active/inactive status impacts being selected for the beta isn’t currently understood.

Wait, we’re being watched? :stuck_out_tongue:

They mentioned that they would try to get a mix of people so its likely they’ll look at things like community participation in it. I hope I get an invite, because both I want to fix an addon for Classic, and also because I really want to make as many bugs get fixed before the general population sees them.

But I accept that I may not get the invite. In which case I’ll fix my addon once I hit 60 and report all the stuff I find on forums.

I really hope that you reconsider about the old epic mounts. Removing them because you want people to take their time is a bad excuse because mounts are not the reason people rush through leveling. Furthermore it is slower to level when you’re going back and forth across the continents in search of the quests you need. In vanilla you had to do them at the right level because you got reduced reputation from grey quests.

It adds so much to the experience. It isn’t just a matter of leveling, but conserving money and going on unexpected adventures all across Azeroth, for a goal that isn’t just to reach cap as quickly as possible.

the only thing that makes me sad about how they are choosing accounts for beta is that i no longer have access to my old account i was there a month after vanilla launched but because i’m forced to use a different account i likely will not be chosen

It’s rocket man.

Giving people a chance to name save, I don’t think its necessary but its only 3 characters.

Well I knew it would but in August, even though I wish it would be sooner.

Can’t justify paying 3 months subscription just for a chance at beta. Shame it had to be like this.

Well I said I’d come back for classic so I’m putting my money where my mouth is. When renewing my subscription I noticed my last login was 8/27/18 and chuckled.

But the 28th is my birthday!

Do I start Classic a day late or have my balls cut off?

Blizzard. I hope you consider my application to the beta as I am an encyclopedia of Vanilla knowledge. I’ve been playing since the open vanilla alpha stress test back in August 2004.

If I don’t get in, I request that you make a forum for bug reports. I will be watching peoples streams and vods to keep an eye out for things like inaccurate drop rates/ect. If you won’t accept me, that just means I will have to work harder to make this classic launch as perfect as it can be.
