Congratulations on being in a position to do that. Not everyone is in the same position as you. Its not rocket science to realise that either.
I don’t think it’s a good idea to trust players to balance server populations on their own.
Although, clearly, Blizzard isn’t great at it either.
If only there were other server options, imagine if you had friends already on those servers as well…
Well, last week, Blizzard let players go to any realm.
This week, they’re taking more active steps to direct traffic.
repeating yourself again. You already told me we could have done that, and i already told you the reasons why we didnt.
Since you like repeating yourself, ill jump on that bandwagon too. Not everyone has huge amounts of time to throw away rerolling, OCE had only one choice prior to launch and blizz had already stated transfers were an option in the future, so people held out for it.
This is bad, there should be free swapping.
People aren’t gonna swap to full realms and people aren’t gonna swap off to dead realms if it’s THE ONLY OPTION.
People want to transfer to friend realms, to realms with better horde/alliance ratio, realms that don’t have 20k queues, etc.
No one’s gonna move to a completely new realm when they’re on faerlina or stalagg, you’re completely missing the point why people went to these realms to begin with.
A great idea that needed to happen just like in vanilla, but this is NOT the right implementation, we need way way more freedom.
This solves nothing and will actually create more problems.
Just admit you were too stubborn, i doubt your friends rolled on day 3 did they, at most you would have ‘lost’ 6-10 hours in a game you will likely end up investing hundreds of hours in. You gambled and lost.
Transfer to felstriker and you will be with your friends when dead servers start getting merged.
Actually, if you have a smartphone, and use Google Chrome on your PC, you can queue up remotely. Nothing else needed, and this isn’t you using a spoon tied to a circulating fan that keeps your character jumping to avoid being AFK kicked. Just remotely queue on your smartphone, so you don’t have to do it after you get home from whatever you do during the day.
My friend wants to know how the spoon fan thing works…

Points for creativity!
People were doing similar 15 years ago in Vanilla when there were queues. It’s a neat trick.
well im not going to bother anymore with someone calling me a liar.
maybe ill get one of them to post here to confirm what day he started playing
What if we didn’t want to retain out name? Would it be possible to transfer and rename out characters?
i appreciate that you are trying to be helpful, unlike some others here. It is a good suggestion, and i already do something similar. The comment i made was for other people who are not in a position to do so (some friends of mine), but some cannot even do that, which is unfortunate.
great that you guys have provided people with the option, however i think you’ve missed the mark. Only allowing people to go to 1 realm option isn’t great. Oceanic only had arugal and 1 pve realm to begin with. End of day 1 you added yojamba so guilds split. Now half are on both and only offering specific server changes doesnt fix this at all.
In the case of a new realm you would need to wait until it is open to create characters, then create a toon there with your name. Then transfer over and it should let you rename.
Alternatively create a character with the same name on another realm that can transfer there and do it that way.
So if there’s two same name transferring out, from Whitemane and Fairbanks, who’s going to win the name conflict? How is it even decided
probably whoever initiated the transfer first will get the name
You seem impossible to please. This is a great move.
