I highly doubt that people will move from high pop to another server UNLESS it’s a fresh server so you can retain names.

Absolute fail. How does anyone inside your company actually think this is a good solution? How bout for the thousands of people that are split up? Unreal. This day went from good job Blizzard to wow look they found a way to screw this up.

We shouldn’t be forced to a server just because its low pop, we should get to choose the server. I have a 27 rogue on Bigglesworth but my friends could never log on so they started on a new server.Yes I rerolled to the server my friends are now on and my rogue hasn’t been played since, I would like to move my rogue to that server and not just be forced to another server that i more than likely won’t play on.
Would this also provide the opportunity to change a characters name as well?
Well Heartseeker is new realm. But you can’t really guaranteed retain names, because Fairbanks/Whitemane goes there. Unless you already have same nick reserved on both servers, in that case no one else is competing.

Seriously though. The biggest fear with server transfers is the fear of a dead server.
I know we can’t receive actual specifics on population details. The closest we will ever get is the fact that we know a Medium server is more populated than the most overpopulated Vanilla server, and that server populations are a reflection of the server’s population relative to the other servers in that region (i.e. Stalagg is Full, and say a new server with 5k people is reported as Low, because Stalagg is ~20k, for example.)
Blizzard needs to allow people from any realm to move to these new realms. Transfers to Full realms should be restricted, but otherwise transfers to these new realms should be 100% open to any realm. There is an interesting issue that arises where there is a potential for Low/Medium population servers to have transfers out into the new server for a server first title, new guild dominance, or establishing a Devilsaur Mafia, etc. because no one will touch those zones for a long time. In that case, I can see why Blizzard would restrict access to the transfers, but it doesn’t make me happy to know that they focused on that rather than assuaging the fear of a dead server.
I think a safer way to convince people to transfer is to announce what they consider are surplus players on these high demand realms in a broad range to help obfuscate the actual number but give people a real enough idea of how many people can be transferred from each server. Perhaps they can give a “more than 5k players have transferred to X server” spiel to help convince people.
All in all, this is probably not the last thing we will see from Blizzard when it comes to balancing server populations before Phase 2 rolls out. They HAVE to kill Layering. They said they would. This means they have got to get people off of these servers and onto more stable ones. Personally, I’m not transferring because I’ve already planted a growing guild down, but that may change if we manage to convince people to swap over. I also want to avoid Earthfury because Herod private server lords may just transfer over to the new territory, and that can get annoying. I predict Faerlina will similarly ruin Heartseeker in terms of Twitch culture, as streamers, alongside their guilds, may leave to get server first titles or get a head start on endgame shenanigans on a server that can’t fight back.

so, all the players who are not from Faerlina, Stalagg, Herod, Skeram, Fairbanks and Whitemane are lesser players that dont deserve a realm with their names available?

People complain about queues and give the “im paying for a service” speech
Bliz gives free transfers to fresh realms where there wont be a queue and everyone can play
People complain about dead realms and refuse to transfer
If all of you people complaining about dead realms transfered, the realm would easily catch up in population to all these realms that you for whatever reason suddenly want to transfer to. And its not like those realms werent also being called “dead realms” by you guys literally days ago. You people just like to hear yourselves complain.
If you want some extra motivation to make that jump, just think about how massive your queues will be when layers get removed and Bliz needs to fit all of those people in a single layer. If you think bliz is going to allow five layers worth of people to play on a single one you are going to be incredibly upset when that day comes.

Better idea: Make realm transfer free for 1 month. 1 free transfer per person that expires at the end of the month. This way all the guilds that got split up and went to many different realms can all unite again. It will all even out across the servers.

i wanted to xfer to kirtonos from herod cause thats where my friends are but damn now i cant so i have to start all over again more than 72 hours played wasted im to the point that i lost my motivation on keep playing this game pls let us pay xfer to the server we desire simple fix

I was so super excited about this until I saw that Thalnos isn’t getting a new server. It’s like thanks, glad we get to be the red-headed step-children here. Then the people crying like it isn’t a big deal. Blows me away.

Yep, same here man. I was like OH YES, then wtf?! seriously go and look at ol Netherwind and every single name is taken of every single guild member we have. Too bad we didn’t get the same 1 day eh?

There’s no reason you guys can’t open transfers up completely. Lots of us are in a situation where we are split between two groups and have rerolled multiple times. Please reconsider.

I did the same. All of our names are taken. Thalnos needed xfers more than most because of the language barrier and queue and we still got deuced on with this whole thing.
