That’s fine, don’t.
I don’t like Connected Realms, and I’m never going to. You can like what you like, and I’ll like what I like. Neither of us should be “put to shame” nor “feel bad”, in doing so.

I feel you don’t completely understand what connected realms are Piper.
What is your suggestion then to fix the lack of population?
Just currious, no shade.
That’s fine.
I do know the AH is shared, and our Server Names are attached to our names.
Let’s see, actual Server Merging. Not a long list of Servers that are “connected”. If we’re going to need to slap Server Names, next to our names, like the answer in their Q&A said, your “Server Name” will be slapped to your name, if you share the same name, as someone else. Would love for a Name Change feature. And, an “uplift” of being only one faction, per PvP server. Along with an “uplift” in refraining PvE Characters from transferring over onto PvP Servers.
I am happy that BB is one of a kind, and I hope it stays that way.
That’s fine. I don’t mind having a conversation. As long as we don’t attack each other for our beliefs.
Ok, the thing is, the connected realms are basically a merger. There is no difference. You will see everyone just as if it were a merger and be able to group with them and just like the FAQ said, you won’t lose your name.
The only time you will need to use the -servername on the end of someone’s name is if you mail something to them.
I like your description of the merge with name change possibility, which is why I am so baffled at people not understanding connected realms. It could be that I play retail on a connected realm server, and we have our guild mates across both servers, yet you can’t tell.
And I do not wish to attack you for holding this belief. Just trying to share my experience in that this is, in all purposes, the same thing as a physical merger, without the negatives.
Thanks for your reply.
I disagree with that, sorry.
That’s where the “resentment” comes in. I have to stop and pause and be like “are they on my server?”.
I don’t play the Standard Game, often, anymore. IDK what’s CRZ’d and what’s Connected. Along with Virtual Realmed and Sharded. And, all these “wonderful” features Blizz utilizes, and don’t really explain/handle too well.
One of the biggest reasons I enjoyed Classic is Server Identity and not having to endure all that extra nonsense, but I digress.
Appreciate that.
I still disagree with that, sorry.
You’re welcome.
So if AH is shared, what else is? I’m confused how it’ll work. Can we join guilds regardless of who was in what server? I don’t think this is a merge…but it is?
Yes, it works as if everyone is on the same server - guilds, trades, everything.
I too find the appearance of the realm name a bit irritating and wish they didn’t show at all. Just make people choose from a list if they enter a name that has duplicates.
The rest of Azeroth.
As long as your Servers are connected, yes.
Agreed.
Technically speaking, yes.
This.
its a merge. You share everything. You see the same people in the zones. You can runs dungeons and raids with them and join their guilds . There is no layering/sharding though or CRZ (for Era) so it feels like the same realm.
I still remember them announcing the original connected realms and I still remember saying they would never merge - but this is the same thing except you keep your name. Keeping your name is a big deal for many people so this is a compromise.
Will i be able to gank someone on a connected server to mine
For all intents and purposes, the connected servers will effectively be merged other than nameplates.
All zones/raids will be shared (allowing grouping and whatnot) and AHs/mail systems will be shared as well.
Just your names will be tagged to your server allowing people with the same names from two different servers to be in the same connected realm space.
2 servers with (A55%/H45%) 2 100% alliance servers and one that’s A62%/H38%
RIP horde I guess
Here is what it will look like. Or at least how it looks on retail connected realms.
Geodor is on Unermine and Elroby is on Anvilmar

The whole cloning to BC is absurd. Offer to go to BC (and clone or not) s/b made at launch. Leave Classic servers alone. In my experience, server pops will settle down within a few weeks of launch.
Agree re: realm name. The likelihood of duplicates is relatively small. And for years, programmers have been able to tag on an invisible numeric ID to a “same name” that differentiates the toons without adding bulk or additional data to the toon’s tag.
You might not be attached to the name Fogfolder, but I am attached to my name. Randomly some of your friends and guildies suddenly having different character names doesn’t fit well in a community driven game either.
Hate connected realms
I love conencted realms.
You should go to TBC.
I support connecting realms. Don’t speak on behalf of the community. Classic Era realms will be largely dead. They need to do something to create a sustainable population
Hey charax, I used to play with you back in the day on ED. At least I’m pretty sure I did lol

Probably…good times on ED. Too bad war mode and general retail badness killed it
