WoW Classic Era 1.14.4 PvP Ranking Update Examples

That’s probably correct you got more honor than me and rank 0-2 probably doesn’t require much at all

Went from Rank 10 at 0% to rank 10 at 89% at 390k honor.

That seems a bit Suspect to be broken… If that’s true then you should not be able to go from R0 to R14 in 8 Weeks…

Suspect some numbers in the mathamacalculations got borked… Intentions im sure are good, just syntax errors go a real long way.

I THINK. It could be that 200k is approx what you need to get to reach rank 8 baseline without competition. So when you have rank 8 and 200k honor you need to grind above that because you only grinded to what you have accomplished, So every weekend you need grind every honor step you grinded and then surpass that to maximum what you can reach a week (4 Ranks) Less at higher level of course.

I was at rank 0 and got to 4,60% with 100k honor, i expect to be rank 8 something with 250k honor this week.

2 Cases:

  1. Rank 5 at 40% - 250k honor = Rank 7 80%;
  2. Rank 5 at 0% - 178k honor = Rank 7 80%;

Stuffs be broke.

This has proven to be pretty accurate so far:

Rank CP Required for Rank Change factor for Rank Honor Cap
1 0 1 0
2 2000 1 4500
3 5000 1 11250
4 10000 0.8 22500
5 15000 0.8 33750
6 20000 0.8 45000
7 25000 0.7 77500
8 30000 0.7 110000
9 35000 0.6 142500
10 40000 0.5 175000
11 45000 0.5 256250
12 50000 0.4 337500
13 55000 0.4 418750
14 60000 0.34 500000

We compared several player’s gains with what the calculator expected and it was pretty spot on. This calc was based on Blizzard’s data btw.

Each rank has a a CP value like before, but now each rank also has an honor cap. You can only get CP based on the next 4 ranks above you, so for example, if you are rank 6 0%, the maximum you can advance that week is rank 8 50%. Your honor cap is 175000 honor, which corresponds with Rank 10, so whether you get 175000 or 500000 honor, you will still only advance 50% into rank 8, so 32500 CP. If you instead hit between rank 9 and 10 cap, so less than 175000 but more than 142500, you will only advance to rank 8 0% or 30000 CP.

I forgot to add that in order to make progress, you need to at least hit the honor cap for the next rank up. So if you are say rank 6, you MUST hit at least 77500 honor (rank 7 cap) in order to make progress towards the next rank, otherwise you don’t gain any RP.

There was a guy on here that was rank 4 0%, got 150k honor, and advanced to rank 7 17%…

That’s correct. He farmed 40k honor more than he needed (110k).
System is working as Blizzard said it would.

I agree with ranks 1-10, but I believe the 65 kCP for rank 14 in the blue post is a typo.

I get:

Rank 11: 240K honor needed
Rank 12: 305K honor
Rank 13: 370K honor
Rank 14: 435K honor

These would be the minimums to be considered. The blue post did state 65K CP equals 500K honor, but the breakdown shows 60k CP needed for 14. It is confusing and I wish the blue would clarify which number was the typo.

LMAO 500K honor for bracket 1 AND you can’t derank. Welcome to welfare epics again lol.

Also as predicted, the meta game is back to afk-AV.

Revert these pvp system changes blizz. u screwed up the game

also blizz needs to revert this patch for more than reason just screwing up pvp. Why’d they change the UI and break every addon on top of that too LMAO

Remember, the same devs working on classic wow isn’t the same ones that made it.

EASY FIX: Revert the patch

These numbers are not correct. I started R9 at 20%. I had 202k Honor, and only went to R9 60%.

Hi Warthelas!

So, at 202k, you would have been considered for R10. It would have netted you 2500 CP for the week.

Now, I still see a potential issue as 2500 CP is 50% progress in 1 rank (at that level). I would have expected an increase to 70% R9 (instead of the 60% you stated). Either way, that would have not been enough honor to rank up at R9. To see any gains rank wise, you would have needed at least 240k honor (preferred 370k). The 240k honor would have given you 5k CP which would be enough for any rank to move 1 spot up.

So then how does this even work? My 202k is more than enough for R10, what is this consideration crap?
Rank 11: 240K honor needed
Rank 12: 305K honor
Rank 13: 370K honor
Rank 14: 435K honor

My results were not what I expected and a few I talked with also did not get results as expected. A couple of these other folks had 500k honor for the week as well and did not get as much CP as the formula (blue post) said they should have.

Warthelas, I am no longer sure about any of the math. I can say the blue post states our honor converts into contribution points. There are 5k contribution points per rank. According to the post, rank 9 needs 35k CP and rank 10 needs 40k. If you can increase you CP by 5k in that week, you will rank up to 10.

Easy and quick rank to look at is R13. If you get 500k honor in the week, you will get max CP of 65k. 65000-60000 (blue chart is wrong, but this is just for visual) = 5000. It has a multiple of .34 which is 5000*.34=1700. Let’s say you had 50% progress in R13 already. You should be R13 and 84% progress after that week of grinding out 500k. That is not what people are seeing though. There might be some decay still showing on blizz side or the blue post just needs better clarification.

It just confusing at this point and makes it difficult for people to determine how long they need to put in additional ~40 hour weeks to get to R14.

I hit r14 a few months before Naxx came out so here is my take on this new system. 500k is a high cap. My server had like a 425k cap because mostly everyone fell in line. I also pvp’d casually until I hit r12 which is when the real grind begins if you’re half serious about ranking. The beauty was that you can pvp casually and hit b3 (bracket 3) and still get a decent amount of contribution points to make progress. This new system sort of forces you to grind for 500k, which is high if you’re not in a winning premade farming 8 minute matches. It took me 4 weeks to go from r12 to r14 sitting on b1/b2. I would play 14-16 hours a day to hit caps above 500k depending if our premade was winning a lot or not. On average you should be farming 75k honor per day assuming you are not playing monday’s. If you want two days off in the week that number jumps to 100k. Just an fyi for anyone interested in what the grind was like before and if this update really made any changes

its not 435k thats why. its 500,

You have to de-rank yourself ( by DHK) from rank 12 0% to rank11 99%, my friend did that and ranked to rank 13.
Its a stupid system, but many did this and worked

What patch will move horde’s starting position in AV back to about where it should be?

This is what I’m getting if you honor cap each week

  • Week 2 = Rank 3 at 80%
  • Week 3 = Rank 6 at 90%
  • Week 4 = Rank 9 at 40%
  • Week 5 = Rank 11 at 20%
  • Week 6 = Rank 12 at 34%
  • Week 7 = Rank 13 at 8%
  • Week 8 = Rank 13 at 42%
  • Week 9 = Rank 13 at 76%
  • Week 10 = Rank 14 at 10% over

So 9 weeks of ranking. The start of week 10 is when you get Rank 14. It’s because of the weirdness at R13. I’m not sure they intended that.

Forget about starting positions and badge turn-ins. We need to focus on the important stuff: restoring the Portable Goblin Shredder quest!
